1996 South Carolina Gamecocks football team

The 1996 South Carolina Gamecocks football team represented the University of South Carolina in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) during the 1996 NCAA Division I-A football season. The Gamecocks were led by third-year head coach Brad Scott and played their home games in Williams–Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina.

In 1996, South Carolina finished with a winning record of 6–5, highlighted by an upset over archrival No. 22 Clemson on the road,[1] their third victory against the Tigers in five years.[2] Running back Duce Staley had the fourth highest single-season rushing total in program history until then.[3]
