@ntivirus 0.9.1 UPDATE
The 0.9 serie will be focused on the completion and rework of the @dventure mode.
1. TUTO 1 AND 2:
Comparing to the past tutorial, these 2 levels have got less text, have a more gradual challenge, a more systemic environment and encourage exploration with secret rooms and collectibles.
Tuto 1 is focused on the basic mechanics while tuto 2 is focused on the powers and mechanics related to them.
2. DIRECTION FEEDBACK:
This update is also focused on testers feedback, and many testers complained that the past tutorial lacked directionnal landmarcks.
So we added this directionnal feedback for the 2 tutos:
And it's also reused later as a mini game to unlock powers:
The design of the glyphe in the front of the direction feedbacks is inspired by a glyph inside the game "Red Rivers" freely available on itch.io.
3. CHECKPOINTS:
Restarting completly a level is sometime really frustrating. In order to solve that problem and to control more the challenge, we created these checkpoints with a design based on native american totem.
The surrounded glyphs and the pylon's glyph are based by the basic glyph of @ntivirus (viewed in devlog 0.8.1):
4. LEVEL 0:
This level is the concretization of the tutorial levels. It is focused on 4 skills represented by 4 glyphs.
There are 3 areas connected by a central HUB. Every area has got a switch that the player must activate to go to the next level.
5. MOVEMENTS FEEDBACK:
For @ntivirus we want the HUD to be the simplest possible. So we added 3 new movements feedback into the @v@t@r itself:
-When the @v@t@r is attacking, it will now escape electricty.
-When the @v@t@r is jumping (and not simply falling) a gas will escape from its bottom and a sound will be played.
In the next version, the player will be able to desactivate the feedbacks in an Option.
6. LEVEL DESIGN ELEMENTS REWORK:
Many elements has been graphically reworked to enhance their affordance and visibilty.
For exemple, in the video below you can see the rework of the powers:
7. OPTION "INPUT SETTINGS":
Re mapping the keys of major actions is now possible.
Every changements are visible in the tuto levels.
8. COLLISION ISSUES FIXED:
We fixed the collision issues the @v@t@r got while touching multiple platforms, sticking or using slowmotion.
The major's update are reviewed. A big thanks to all the testers for their feedbacks.
