🚨 Major Project Update at Sopi-Tootsi wind and solar park. 2 months ago the substation transformers arrived in Paldiski and we are happy to say that first of them has now been energized. ⚡️ In April 2024, four 330/33kV transformers with a capacity of 100 MVA arrived from Turkey to Paldiski port by vessel. The transformers are manufactured by BEST Transformer in collaboration with S-Power OÜ. Each transformer consists of a main body and around 20 crates of additional components. The transport weight of one transformer was 106 tons, increasing to 160 tons after installation. 👉🏼 The whole project includes a comprehensive wind and solar park that will harness electricity from 38 wind turbines and 112,000 solar panels and is being built in collaboration with NOBE OÜ and Verston. We are responsible for the full scope of electrical system design, construction, testing, and commissioning for the wind park. New Series Alert! 🚨 We are so happy to start introducing some of our wonderful and hardworking team members. 👏 Kicking of a series of post is our HR specialist Meriliis Tõnisson. We had a chance to ask her some questions about working in Connecto and get to know her better. Here is what she had to say: Q: Could you tell us a bit about your journey at Connecto and how you joined the company? A: I've been at Connecto as an HR Specialist for six months, handling personnel administration, recruitment, and training sessions. It's been a fascinating journey, applying theoretical knowledge practically. The warm welcome and awesome colleagues make me eager to come to work every day. When I first met the HR Manager, I instantly felt that we connected well, and I was impressed by the flexible work approach because I think balancing work and personal life is important. A little after that, I was offered an HR Specialist role at Connecto, and I thought that this is it – it’s the opportunity for me to do the job I wanted to do. I didn’t expect to work in the electrical industry, but now I feel perfectly at home here. 🤗 Q: What's your favorite part of your current job? A: I appreciate the balance in my role, where it offers diversity alongside structured processes and systems, which suits me well. With an accounting background, I particularly enjoy personnel administration, yet I find creating job advertisements and unleashing creativity equally fulfilling. My role feels well-rounded, and I'm excited to delve into new experiences like participating in employee satisfaction surveys. Q: What makes Connecto unique? A: What sets Connecto apart for me are the people I work with every day. We share laughs and a strong sense of unity that makes me feel right at home. Despite being a company of 400 spread across Estonia, the team spirit here surpasses anything I've experienced before. Especially during our shared sports events like ice hockey, basketball, and volleyball practices, which I love participating in due to my passion for sports. Q: Do you have any dreams or thoughts about where Connecto could be in 10 years? A: A 10-year vision is quite distant. I prefer to focus on what we can do today in the HR department to keep our people motivated, happy, and moving towards successful outcomes and visions together. It brings me joy when colleagues are enthusiastic and forward-thinking, as this helps us move towards a brighter future. Q: What's one interesting fact about you that people may not know? 𝟮𝟬𝟲 𝗧𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱! 😎 A significant milestone has been achieved on the construction of the Mustvee 330 kV substation in collaboration with Elering . The adjustable 120 MVar shunt reactor from BEST Transformer in Turkey, has arrived. 🥳 This critical component, weighing approximately 200 tons, is now being assembled on-site and is expected to be completed by the end of July. 🔧 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: 👉🏼 Total weight: 206 tons 👉🏼 Transport weight: 146 tons 👉🏼 Oil weight: 50 tons This substation will connect the Viru-Tsirguliina and Viru-Paide 330 kV overhead lines, playing a vital role in synchronizing Estonia’s power system with the Continental Europe frequency area. 🌍⚡ #Connecto #Elering #Energy #Infrastructure #Estonia

Do you know what are battery parks and how they work? Partnering with Evecon, an Estonian renewable energy company, and the French solar energy producer CORSICA SOLE, we’ve begun building a 330 kV substation for Estonia's largest battery park complex in Kiisa. 🔋 The battery park will have a total capacity of 100 MW. 🏗️ Currently, we are designing the substation, and construction will start in the second half of the summer. 📅 The Kiisa battery park’s 330 kV substation will be completed by summer 2025. For the first time in Estonia, the battery park and substation will connect to the transmission network with a 330 kV alternating current underground cable. "This is an important and innovative project for us", said the head of major projects department Tee Tarmo. Battery parks are game changers and a new way forward because: ✅ They store excess energy and supply it when needed. ✅ They help stabilise the power grid. ✅ They make renewable energy more reliable. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀’ 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆! ⚡ This spring, we began the second 110kV cable line installation for Väike Väin, commissioned by Elering. Now, it's time for a quick update! 💡 We have completed the first phase of the project, including trenching and laying the land cable in Muhumaa and Orissaare. The 900m cable in Orissaare and 800m in Muhumaa were installed in one piece, without joints. Next, our skilled sleeve fitters will add end joints to the land cable. With Prysmian Group's cable from their Pikkala factory in Finland, this project enhances the reliability of islands’ power supply and supports new renewable energy capacities. 🎉 It is time for Connectofest 2024 🌞 Every summer we all gather for a fun family day to create memories, network and have fun. This years event in Valma Adventure Park brought together a record number of 489 participants. The Creativity organizing team gave us a day full of rain and sunshine, exciting competitions at the Valma Olympics, and fun activities for everyone. The day was lead by Hannes Hermaküla. 🏆 Our Olympics included obstacle courses, basketball free throws, accuracy throws and kicks in football, handball, and disc golf. Adventurers could also try the adventure park course or zip line. For the creatives, there was a textile printing workshop where you could design your own T-shirt. Both sports and arts were equally popular! 🎨⚽ Kids enjoyed a special program featuring two fantastic performances by the Miku-Manni children's theater, a football training session, and a clown leading the festivities. 🎭🤹 In the evening, we tested our knowledge with a Kahoot quiz. Afterward, Karl-Eerik Taukar rocked the stage, getting everyone, both young and old, dancing! 🎤🕺 It was a day to remember, filled with fun, laughter, and great company. We are proud to celebrate the incredible journey of Eeri Kärg and Uno Kiigajaan, who together have dedicated more than 50 years of service to our company. 👏 These two remarkable men from Pärnumaa bring not just experience, but a zest for life and work that is truly inspiring. Both have been part of the telecommunications field since the mid-90s. Uno, originally from Kihnu island, started his career grounding telephone lines, while Eeri, born in Riga, learned the ropes on the job. Their stories are filled with fascinating and funny moments, like the time they battled angry wasps that had taken over a distribution box! 🐝 "Compared to back then, working today is a joy with the advanced tools and technology we have now," says Uno. ☺️ Eeri appreciates the variety in their work: "I couldn't handle doing the same routine every day. Different tasks keep my mind sharp." Despite the physical demands, both Eeri and Uno enjoy staying active in their free time – from biking to swimming and even fishing. Their dedication is a testament to the positive environment at Connecto, where passion and teamwork go hand in hand. 🔌 Last week we had the great opportunity of participating in the EETEL - Estonian Association of Electrical Enterprises, development seminar at the stunning Vergi Port. It was a joy to see so many members of the association and valued partners gathered  together. 🤝 Throughout the day, we listened to presentations from industry experts and explored the birdlife at Vergi Port with experienced nature guides. During the seminar, presentations were delivered by representatives from esteemed entities such as TGS Baltic law firm, the Tax and Customs Board, EAS and KredEx joint institution, and the Rescue Board. We held an epic Connecto inter-country basketball battle! 🏀 On May 16, 2024, we had a fantastic time at the Connecto Basketball Cup in Mežaparks Sports Center, Riga, Latvia. Teams from Connecto Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania faced off in three exciting and closely-fought games. This year, our Estonian team secured the victory, with Lithuania coming in second and Latvia taking third. 🏆 Our hard work and dedication during weekly training sessions really paid off. Big thanks to our wonderful partner TalTech Sports Club for enabling our training sessions. After the games, we had a thorough post-match analysis, which helped strengthen our team spirit even more. What started as a fun event in 2022 in Kääriku, Estonia, has now become a cherished tradition. We can’t wait to meet again next year in Lithuania!
