Business Licenses
Business Certificate of Authorization
Any business entity which offers and provides these professional services on projects located in South Dakota must obtain a certificate of authorization from the Board. A business entity is defined in the Blue Book (covering South Dakota Codified Law (SDCL) 36-18A-1(8)). For pertinent laws concerning business entities and certificates of authorization, see the Blue Book (covering SDCL 36-18A-48 through 36-18A-53). Any licensee who offers and provides these professional services on projects located in South Dakota must be included under a business certificate of authorization, unless said licensee is employed by an exempt entity. To obtain a certificate of authorization, the business entity must employ one or more professionals licensed in South Dakota in the same field of practice.
