Materials technology company Diamond Hard Surfaces Ltd has partnered with the University of Wolverhampton’s AM research spinout, ADDITIVE ANALYTICS, to investigate the development of embedded electronic heat spreaders aimed at enhancing performance, according to a 3D Printing Industry article 📃 Similar to heat sink geometries, these components are critical for managing #thermal dissipation in electronics and CPUs. Traditional subtractive manufacturing techniques have historically limited the complexity of heat spreader designs. New smartwatches from global consumer electronics company Apple will include components made with metal #3Dprinting, according to an article from 3D Printing Industry ⌚🍎 The US-based tech giant will reportedly include parts 3D printed by Chinese 3D printer manufacturer Bright Laser Technologies - BLT in its Apple Watch Series 10 🌟 The predictions were published in a blog post earlier this year, and they follow news last year that Apple was testing binder jet 3D printers from BLT to produce its Apple Watch Series 9. The new report indicates that BLT has now joined Apple’s component supply chain, directly producing end-use parts for the company 🏭 Apple’s growing adoption of 3D printing could mark a significant milestone for #additivemanufacturing, potentially accelerating its use for mass production of consumer electronics ... something that we would naturally welcome here at the Danish Technological Institute, where it our mission to promote an increased uptake of AM 👏 https://lnkd.in/du5gDKkB

According to an article from 3D Printing Industry, a step forward in medical technology was achieved with the successful implantation of the first 3D printed ceramic subperiosteal jaw implant at Kepler Universitätsklinikum GmbH 💀👏 The procedure is part of the INKplantEU project, an #EU-funded initiative involving 19 interdisciplinary partners. The 3D printed dental implant, which was developed by Austrian ceramic #3Dprinting specialist Lithoz and led by PROFACTOR, targets patients suffering from severe jaw atrophy—a condition where the loss of teeth leads to significant bone deterioration, making traditional dentures or implants untenable. Typically, treatment would require invasive bone grafting that is unsuitable for many elderly patients due to associated health risks. Can I get a McAdditive please ❓🍔 Unfortunately not (yet)...but you may soon be able to enjoy #additivemanufacturing in your local McDonald's restaurant 😮 The fast food giant has partnered with Philips MyCreation, a division of Philips, to implement a novel lighting design concept using #3Dprinting 💡 According to 3D Printing Industry, the plan is to install custom 3D printed light fixtures in all 38,000 McDonald’s locations, featuring unique embossed circular pendants. By producing these lampshades with #recyclable materials at nearby facilities, McDonald’s aims to reduce shipping pollution, cut utility costs, and minimize waste compared to traditional methods ♻📉💰 By using at least 55% recycled or bio-circular plastics and producing lamp shades locally, transport emissions were reduced and delivery times shortened. Furthermore, on-demand production eliminated the need for large inventories.
