TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THESE SMILES These smiles have raised 43 mio. USD - and it's just the beginning. 🚀 Yesterday, the Danish biosolutions company Again made history. To continue their mission, Again annonced to have raised a massive 43 million USD in series A financing to decarbonise global industry at scale. Through a simple, but genius breakthrough technology, they will turn the waste product CO2 into valuable commodities. More detailed: Again’s technology pumps carbon dioxide - that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere - into bioreactors. The bacteria in these reactors then convert the carbon into valuable products, used to make plastics, paints, and soaps.  The backdrop is quite serious: Refining petroleum to extract chemicals is responsible for 4 % (!) of the world’s direct greenhouse gas emissions, making the petrochemicals industry the third most polluting in the world.  Again is on a mission to change that. Give Torbjørn and Maximilian a big round of applaus - it's well deserved. 👏 #dkgreen #biosolutions #dkbio

Meet the newest member of DI Bio: NorFalk is making the cosmetics industry greener! Did you know that your soap pollutes? The production process pollutes and when rinsed down the drain, soap releases microplastics into the world's marine environments. For many manufacturers of laundry detergent, soap, and cosmetics, the use of palm oil and fossil oil is a necessary evil. These oils contain the active, stabilizing ingredients that ensure the cosmetics work as intended. However, the use of palm and fossil oil is far from sustainable, as they contribute to biodiversity loss and emit large amounts of greenhouse gases. Fortunately, the innovative minds at Norfalk have found a solution to this problem! Norfalk has rethought the production of the active and stabilizing ingredients that currently come from palm and fossil oil. Instead, Norfalk uses innovative technology to produce these ingredients from sustainable, bio-based materials. In other words, Norfalk’s solutions can make your soap, laundry detergent, and makeup much greener. It is biosolutions startups like Norfalk that can drive the green transition and we are so excited to have them onboard 💪🌱

PAVING THE WAY FOR A SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECTOR Yesterday was a historic day in Denmark. Six of the leading interest organisations in Denmark, including DI - Dansk Industri, reached an agreement with the government of the future of the agricultural sector. As such, Denmark becomes one of the first countries in the world to add a carbon tax to the agricultural sector, while investing massively in sustainable solutions to green our food sector. Biosolutions is going to play a role in the sustainsable transformation of the agrifood sector, not least due to DI Bio's continued work to present the potentials of our solutions. We applaud the following successes in the agreement: ⚙ Biosolutions is appointed a key technology to deliver the climate reductions 👩💻 The government commits itself to produce calculations of climate technologies such as biosolutions, so their reduction efforts can be measured, paving the way to incentivizing farmers to use biosolutions 💡 A Climate Reduction Panel with representation from industry will be formed to deliver concrete recommendations and documentations for how to best utilize new biosolutions Everybody can be proud. The agreement is the Danish way of doing politics - that the greens, the farmers, and the industry can sit around one table, discuss our views, and reach a balanced agreement with unison support. Europe take note. Now, we need much more flexible regulation to deliver the sustainable biosolutions. That's our next target. Onwards and upwards. #dkpol #dkgreen #biosolutions #dkbio

THE HOUSE OF STARTUPS 👩🔬 DI Bio is on a mission. A mission to transform the House of Industry to the house of founders. A natural community and meeting place for entrepreneurs. To find partners, knowledge, and inspiration. That's our goal. As such, last week DI Bio was honored to host the 3rd roundtable together with Look Up Ventures, where we gathered some of the most promising founders, inspiring entrepreneurs, and forward-looking investors. The facts are clear: We cannot continue our Western way of living and sustain our societies without significant changes in our economy. The biosolutions community can deliver that change - from a fossil-based economy to a fully sustainable, bio-based economy. That's the power of biosolutions, and that was the objective of our roundtables. We are still a long way before the framework for entrepreneurship in Denmark is optimal, and especially the urgent need for late-stage capital is crucial. We need to change that. Luckily, we are also just now reaching momentum in the biosolutions community. Never before have we seen so many scientific breakthroughs and ambitious entrepreneurs, who every morning wake up to change the world. We need to support them, and at DI Bio we are doing our part. Care to join us in the mission? Then reach out to Mikael Wraae Valsted. #dkpol #dkgreen #biosolutions #dkbio

THE GREATEST CHANGES ARE NOT THE ALWAYS THE BIGGEST Biosolutions are nature's own, microscopic miracles. Bacteria, enzymes, yeast, fungi, microalgaes, and many other biological solutions hold the keys to deliver massive climate reductions. As such, the smallest entities in our innovative toolbox can accelerate our green transition - even though we often need a microscope to see them functioning. Denmark and Europe are world-leading in developing and delivering global biosolutions, but we are falling behind the massive investments and beneficial regulatory regimes of the US, China, Brasil, the Middle East, and other regions. We need to pick up pace, if we are to keep track and continue to deliver Danish and global CO2e reductions in line with out climate obligations. And we need to act now. Luckily, we have the solutions in our toolbox and our pipelines. We just need to use them. Therefore, DI has defined biosolutions are one of the key areas in our updated 2045 Climate Plan.
