A great new article in Børsen yesterday! Our CEO, Betina Lindhard Langemark, is featured in in article that focuses on the challenges that face SME's in Denmark, especially the challenges that the SME's that innovate the health care sector face. The article points at two crucial changes that are necessary for turning the crisis in the health care sector into not just a well-functioning sector but also to be able to create export successes: 1. The incentive structure is often almost counter productive to the implementation of new technology. The ability and will to seek new ways should be celebrated instead of being subject to suspicion. 2. There needs to be earmarked investments in new technology. Even though new technology often reduces the time and resources needed, it should never be seen as a way to save away positions for nurses and doctors. We're doing everything we can to innovatively improve patient safety and alleviate the constantly increasing pressure on the nurses, but we need less bureaucracy and better collaboration to deliver the solutions the patients need and deserve. New recommendations from the Ministry of the Interior and Health of Denmark (Sundhedsstrukturkommissionen) to ensure the healthcare sector is ready to deal with the changes in patient needs and increasing pressure on the Danish healthcare system. We're very excited to see the identified potentials for digitalization and that our solution can help being a part of realizing the potentials for the healthcare sector. The second recommendation, to establish a new way of organizing digitalization and data in the healthcare sector, is something we welcome and see as a necessary step towards fast and successful implementation of digital solutions in Danish hospitals. We're looking forward to seeing these recommendations being implemented. Today our CTO Jelle Reichert spoke at #HIMSS24Europe in the Patient Safety Forum lead by Helen Hughes. Jelle explained how WARD-CSS contributes to patient safety by enabling general wards within hospitals to adopt continuous vital sign monitoring using sensors and AI. He explained how WARD-CSS removes irrelevant alerts so that nurses can react more quickly to intervene for upcoming complications. Thanks to HIMSS for the opportunity and the other panellists Gozde Susuzlu Briggs, Pål Iden, Francine De Stoppelaar and Sonia Kelly to share the stage🙌

We're excited to announce a new investment by Innovation Fund Denmark, totaling nearly 30 million DKK! The Innovation Fund has invested nearly 30 million DKK in a new public-private partnership aimed at ensuring safe and efficient care following major surgeries and during acute medical illnesses. The initiative revolves around the further development of leading Danish technologies, including patient-friendly monitoring of vital parameters through the ear and an intelligent system for interpreting these vital signs. The ONWARD project, which has just received this substantial investment, involves a user-friendly, multimodal ear sensor linked with an intelligent data-driven decision support system. This advanced setup will assist healthcare professionals in monitoring high-risk patients more effectively, allowing timely intervention if a patient's condition deteriorates, reducing costly and debilitating complications, and significantly enhancing patient security. Approximately 30% of patients undergoing major surgeries or admitted with acute medical conditions experience serious complications. Early detection of signs pointing to these complications could prevent harm to patients and cut costs. Continuous monitoring of vital parameters such as blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and pulse rate is crucial, as deviations can serve as early warnings of worsening conditions. This approach is spearheaded by Professor and Chief Physician Eske Kvanner Aasvang from the Department of Anesthesiology at Rigshospitalet, and Professor and Chief Physician Christian Meyhoff me from the Department of Anesthesiology at Bispebjerg Hospital, who are leading the clinical research for the WARD-project. "We are thrilled about the opportunity to continue our public-private collaboration with two major hospitals, and now also with a leading force in Danish medtech, T&W Engineering. The WARD-CSS is truly unique as it was developed in close collaboration with nurses and doctors. It’s a vibrant example of how Danish life science can contribute advanced technology that even major international players can only aspire to develop," says Betina Lindhard Langemark, CEO of WARD 24/7 ApS. #healthcareinnovation #patientmonitoring #onward Jelle Reichert Michael Frandsen Madolina Christian Katja Kjær Grønbæk Pernille Nygaard Wigell Kirstine Kjær Boll Hoa Hoang Ylva Pisters Philip Michaelsen Oliver Wiik Rasmussen Søren Straarup Rasmussen Norman Pedersen Mikkel Dahlgaard Heidi Ljunggren Nørholm Ashley Myers Lisa Schrader Claus Hansen Helle Monrad-Gylling Christina Rind Helsbro Sagitta Ventures Innovestor Export and Investment Fund of Denmark Rigshospitalet Bispebjerg Hospital T&W Engineering A/S
