Om os

Why Urban Insights Data Lab? Cities are developing at great speed, often resulting in fast and less appropriate solutions. One of the reasons is a lack of understanding of how the many users and citizens of the city act and use the urban space. Access to shared data is essential for stakeholders across sectors to create vibrant, attractive, healthy and sustainable cities, evaluate actions and adjust direction. However, the existing data landscape is difficult to navigate. As a result, municipalities, developers, architects, tourism organisations, retailers, and other stakeholders do not make sufficient use of the existing public and private sector data sources available. Urban Insights Data Lab will be the platform where both public and private stakeholders can get easy access to relevant data sources and together create data-driven solutions for sustainable urban development. The target groups are: * Municipalities in Denmark * Actors in the urban space (culture, tourism, retail, transport, etc.) * Organisations working in urban development (developers, architects, mobility, energy, etc.) Urban Insights Data Lab's new data model is being developed and tested in the neighborhood of Ørestad in Copenhagen, as the district is similar in size to a major provincial city and houses many of the features that characterise a city. However, the data models that are being developed will be applicable throughout Denmark and internationally. Urban Insights Data Lab is supported by Realdania and run by a consortium of organisations consisting of Ørestad Innovation City Copenhagen (ØICC), Smart City Insights (project leader), IT University, Patrade and VOLCANO. In addition, we have an international and a national monitoring group, which receives regular information about the project and provides input for the development of the model and the data collaboration.

  • NEW DATA MODEL FROM DENMARK CAN INSPIRE INTERNATIONALLY At the final event of Urban Insights Data Lab, "Results & Next Steps" you can learn about the significant achievements of the project over the past two years. At the event you will meet Steve Turner from Great Britain who is Director of 3Ci (Cities Commission for Climate Investment) and responsible for helping the major cities in Britain reach Net Zero.   Steve Turner was formerly Digital Cities Lead for Arup and delivered sustainability focused technology strategies for some of the largest developments in the UK, Europe, and the Middle East, and he has been following the progress of Urban Insights Data Lab over the duration of the project. At this event, Steve Turner will tell us why he finds the results of Urban Insights interesting and which new possibilities these results may create internationally in regard to data driven urban development.   You can learn more and meet the people behind the new data sources and solutions at Urban Insights Data Lab’s final event on: 📆October 24th  ⏱️14:00-17:00 📍Axelborg, Vesterbrogade 4, 1609 Kbh V You may sign up for free here: https://lnkd.in/djghmDQi.. Urban Insights has gathered many stakeholders from the eco-system for urban development in order to pinpoint the needs for data in urban development. New data products have been developed that can be used for urban development projects across the public and private sectors and across different topics, such as green cities, healthy cities and livable cities. As a result, 3Business Denmark who is hosting this event and other data providers can now present data packages that answer much more specific questions than was previously the case.   The collaboration between municipalities, private sector case-owners, data providers and others has resulted in new insights – as well as new data offers tailored for urban development. At this event, Urban Insights Data Lab will also present the model for a data collaborative for urban development and tell you what the project is about to transition into.   #smartcities #data #urbandevelopment

  • In Urban Insights Data Lab we are thrilled to officially announce that Nabolagsatlas (the Danish Neighbourhood Atlas) has become a data source in the project.   BUILD at Aalborg Universitet have created the Danish Neighbourhood Atlas (https://lnkd.in/d5Dq22Gh), which is an interactive decision-support tool for urban as well as rural development. It allows users to explore the evolution of various social and economic indicators across 13,000 Danish neighborhoods over the past 30 years. You can try it out right away and discover the development over time using parameters such as prosperity, housing, demographics, residential mobility, education or work and income.   Co-financed by WE BUILD DENMARK, BUILD will update the Neighbourhood Atlas with new neighbourhoods and new data and also delve deeper into detailed migration patterns based on the needs of use-cases in the Urban Insights Data Lab. We anticipate that the new data will be available in Q4 2024. Until then, we look forward to the collaboration and insights it will bring. We invite you to hear more and meet the great people behind this fantastic data source and solution at our final event on: 📆October 24th   ⏱️14:00-17:00 📍Axelborg, Vesterbrogade 4, 1609 Kbh V You can sign up for free here: https://lnkd.in/djghmDQi.. #urbandevelopment #data #smartcity #datacollaborative #smartcities

SCOPING THE NEXT PHASE OF URBAN INSIGHTS In the second phase of the project, we want to help #danishmunicipalities work on concrete issues, they experience in their cities, using #data as a tool for #collaboration with multiple #stakeholders. WHY does data matter in urban transformation? 📈Being able to collect different types of #data about an area, gives #municipalities more solid arguments for #transformation. 🥊It also easier to onboard #citizens, #politicians, #localbusinesses, in the needed #tranformation, when there's strong data-driven arguments backing it up. ✏️better #knowledge about an area under transformation, allows #urbanplanners to design more precise #interventions. 🤝Lastly, #foundations and #investors are increasingly requiring #impact #measurement and #documentation, when they decide to finance and support #urbandevelopment projects.   We are developing a model for the #datacollaborative enabling all of the above. We look forward to showing you the results and present the next phase of the project.   #data #smartcities #urbandevelopment #innovation

  • THANK YOU to all who took part in yesterday's thematic workshop on creating livable cities. Your engagement and input is exceedingly valuable in the process of creating a viable model for a data collaborative for urban development. Particular thanks goes to Rasmus Højmose Adser fra 3Insights and Astrid Sletten Rybner from VOLCANO for their presentations of what data can tell us about people's movements and attitudes in a particular neighbourhood and how this information can help create livable cities. #smartcities #data #urbandevelopment #communities #belonging

  • URBAN INSIGHTS AT AEC HACKATHON Over the weekend, Urban Insights presented a challenge at the AEC Hackathon held in BLOXHUB, Copenhagen. The challenge was: * How do we create new insights for sustainable urban development by using and combining new data sources? * How can it be visualized? * Can we find new patterns by combining data? Team Urban Hackers created a very useful prototype where a map shows movements of people and various segmentations can be applied. They also gave us great feedback that we can use in the further development of a good model for a data collaborative. A huge THANK YOU to Magnus Poppe Wang, Anna Ullersted Rasmussen, Thomas Hvidberg Dyhr, Nihit Borpujari, Haya Termanini and Martin Johansen for your dedicated work, great insights and useful perspectives! #urbandevelopment #aechackathon #data #smartcities
