📢 We are looking for two communications interns to join our team at UN City Copenhagen. 🌐 Do you want to communicate about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and gain experience in video production, graphic design, and photography? The UN City Communications Office is looking for two interns for the Spring semester of 2025. 🌍 The internship is an opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the United Nations and corporate communications in practice. As #UNGA79 concludes, explore the highlights from a high-level week at the United Nations Headquarters in New York ⬇️ At the Summit of the Future, world leaders adopted the #PactForTheFuture, a roadmap for global governance that includes the #GlobalDigitalCompact and the #DeclarationOnFutureGenerations. 🇺🇳 The Pact for the Future results from a years-long, inclusive process to adapt international cooperation to the realities of today and the challenges of tomorrow. The agreement focuses on key areas like #Peace and #Security, #SustainableDevelopment, #ClimateAction, #DigitalCooperation, #HumanRights, and transforming #GlobalGovernance to tackle long-term challenges and deliver a safer, more inclusive future for all. As UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated: ‘We cannot create a future fit for our grandchildren with a system built by our grandparents.’ 🙌 A key takeaway from the #UNGA79 General Debate is the strong call for UN reforms, particularly to the Security Council, to make it more reflective of today's global realities. Another critical focus is the urgency of reducing global #inequality, as developing nations highlight the need for a more just economic system and broader, fairer access to technology. 🌍 Climate action remains a central focus, with urgent calls for accelerated progress on the #SustainableDevelopmentGoals (SDGs) and collective efforts to mitigate the climate crisis. António Guterres further emphasised, ‘The people of the world are looking to us – and succeeding generations will look back on us. At the backdrop of the ‘Big Water’ documentary – a powerful account of the devastating human and environmental aftermath of the Kakhovka dam explosion, we immersed into the narratives of the war in #Ukraine.    💬 Experts from UNOPS, the DIIS - Danish Institute for International Studies, and Ukraine House in Denmark, along with the filmmakers, shared accounts of the energy shortages leaving communities in darkness, families torn apart and displaced, vital #infrastructure destroyed, and the #climate crisis deepened among many global repercussions.
