There is a huge shortage of nurses worldwide, and according to ICN-International Council of Nurses, this should be treated as a global health emergency. How has AI proved to be a solution to this crisis? 📣 “Stress, burnout, absences from work, and strikes affecting the nursing workforce are symptoms of the current perilous state of healthcare, and that they must be addressed urgently if nurses are to successfully take on their central role in the recovery of health systems globally.” - ICN Key concerns from ICN Article: - Leave rates up by 20% - 40% to 80% of nurses report symptoms of distress - Annual hospital turnover rates increasing to 10% What we have experienced is that AI technology is proving to be a solution. Through multiple reports on our AI, we have improved workflows, enhanced patient overview and reduced stress - which are leading to more effective distribution of care and increasing the staff retention number. Through our healthcare partners, we often hear about their long work in finding efficient solutions. So how can the innovation industry be better listeners and collaborators? 👀 An example of this is when we partnered with Nordsjællands Hospital in the Capital Region of Denmark. Patient falls is a known issue across hospital wards. The Department of Neurology had already worked extensively with minimizing falls. In only 9 months, staff managed with our AI solution to improve response time when a patient has fallen by 59%, and reduced patient falls by 47%. We followed three guiding principles to provide support in this partnership, which we believe could benefit all innovators in the industry. 🤗 Support: It is all about providing valuable support to the partner. Ensure that there is a seamless onboarding when introducing your solution. If they can understand it, you’ve already come a long way. 🤝 Collaboration: Do not just introduce your innovation and then ghost your partner. Instead think of them as a team member. Make sure everything works perfectly, that the team is well-supported and comfortable with the system. This also means that you have to follow up regularly to check on the user experience and feedback—allowing the partner to collaborate and have an impact on the solution. 🪡 Tailored to their needs: From the get-go, make sure to listen to their needs. Can AI monitoring prevent in-patient falls and improve the workflows for healthcare staff? Spoiler alert: Yes, it can! 🚀 In collaboration with Nordic Health Lab, we at Teton have been investigating this at Nordsjællands Hospital in the Capital Region of Denmark. The report is in, and here are the key insights: We introduced our intelligent monitoring solution that detects patient movements and activity, sends alarms and notifications, and provides insights into sleep cycles. Results: - 59% quicker response time when a patient has fallen - 47% reduction in patient room falls - 80% of healthcare staff reported that our technology has enabled them to effectively prevent potential falls Moreover, 94% of healthcare workers reported improvements in their workflows thanks to Teton. They've experienced enhanced patient overviews, leading to more effective distribution of care. This isn't just efficiency for efficiency’s sake— these improvements mean that real people receive better care, faster and safer. Our solution for fall identification and prevention has notably improved workflows, leading to a reduction in falls at Nordsjællands Hospital and allowing staff to spend more valuable time where it is needed. #teton #ai

This week, I had the pleasure of speaking and contributing to roundtables at the Royal Danish Embassy, Nexus, and Kings Health partners/Guy's and St Thomas', under the DK-UK Digital Innovation collaborative. 🇬🇧 🇩🇰 As Teton launches at our first NHS hospital, engaging with NHS executives on aligning evidence generation with genuine clinical and policy priorities and making digital innovation easy for the NHS to adopt at scale was massively valuable.  “The NHS isn’t a healthcare system, it’s a religion in the UK”. As a Brit living in Denmark, I am eager to see Teton support improving patient outcomes and providing essential respite to our overextended healthcare system.
