We are excited to share for the first time some performance updates on our TetraSpar Demonstrator floating offshore wind project. Since its commissioning in late 2021, the TetraSpar Demonstrator has been operational at METCentre, Norway, delivering green energy, gathering data, validating numerical models, supporting R&D projects, and serving as a living laboratory for the development of floating wind technology. To date, the TetraSpar Demonstrator has generated more than 37 GWh of green energy. The 3.6 MW Siemens Gamesa turbine and very high mean wind speeds at the MetCentre site combined to yield a capacity factor of 54%. In its first two years of operation, the availability was recorded at 97.0% and 98.3%, respectively. For 2024, the availability has increased to 99.5% with a capacity factor of almost 63%. The TetraSpar design is entirely passive, enabling robust performance even under challenging sea state conditions. During the “Ingumm” storm from January 31 to February 2, wind speeds reached up to 38 m/s, with wave heights exceeding 13 meters. The average capacity factor through February 2024 was over 70%. The TetraSpar floating foundation is a project owned by TEPCO, Shell, RWE, and Stiesdal Offshore. The foundation is based on Stiesdal Offshore's Tetra technology, which is a building-block industrialized floating foundation arrangement. At its commissioning, TetraSpar marked a string of significant milestones, including: - Completion of the factory manufacturing of the components for the world’s first industrially manufactured floating offshore foundation. - Fast assembly of the modules at the quayside, requiring no welding and no special port facilities. - Launch using a semisubmersible barge, followed by rapid turbine installation using an ordinary onshore crane. - Safe deployment of the keel when towed to a location of sufficient depth, making the TetraSpar Demonstrator the world’s first spar foundation capable of deployment from an ordinary, shallow-water port. Thirty months into its operational life, TetraSpar is validating #FloatingWind as a critical component of the future global energy mix. Deploying floating wind turbines in deeper waters, beyond the reach of traditional bottom-fixed #OffshoreWind, opens vast new areas for renewable energy development and significantly increases the potential for offshore wind power. Enjoy the footage from the test site at Marine Energy Test Centre (METCentre):

We are excited to share the news that our Offshore #FloatingWind team, together with partners DIS - CREADIS Engineering Solutions & Consulting and Magellan Wind, are among the five winners of Phase Two of the FLOWIN Prize, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The FLOWIN prize is designed to identify pathways to gigawatt-scale deployment of floating offshore wind farms.  Our Triple One-entry is based on Stiesdal Offshore's Tetra technology, which is a building-block industrialized floating foundation arrangement, and a port-side assembly concept capable of deploying 1 GW from 1 port in 1 season, hence the Triple One label. Big congrats also to the other winners joining us in FLOWIN phase 3: FloatHOME PelaStar Technip Energies WHEEL U.S. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dXd5crD7

We are pleased to share the news of a commercial agreement with Danfoss Heat Exchangers. Going forward, Danfoss will produce and deliver one of the core components of our HydroGen Electrolyzer technology, the electrolysis cell stack.   Stiesdal’s 3 MW HydroGen Electrolyzer features an innovative cell stack design utilizing heat exchanger plate technology. This approach offers several advantages, including a significant milestone thanks to the manufacturing capabilities of Danfoss Heat Exchangers: true industrialized electrolyzer stack manufacturing. By focusing on industrial production, this partnership paves the way for economies of scale in electrolyzer manufacturing, a crucial step towards delivering green hydrogen on a global scale. We were very happy to host Minister for Economic Affairs Stephanie Lose yesterday at our SkyClean pyrolysis plant in Vrå. She is currently touring the country on a fact finding mission looking at climate solutions for agriculture. We co-organized the visit with our competitors and colleagues from Frichs Pyrolysis at nearby Vrejlev Bioenergi. The minister's delegation toured both facilities and experienced at first hand two variations of large-scale pyrolysis technology ready to play a major role in the green transition of Danish agriculture. #Pyrolysis #Biochar #CarbonRemoval #ClimateAction

We are excited to announce that our founder and CTO, Henrik Stiesdal has been awarded the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering. There are no Nobel Prizes for engineering, but in recent times, the field of engineering has received its own equivalent to the Nobel Prize: The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering. The Prize was established in 2013 at the initiative of the British Royal Family. The late Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, had long been a strong advocate of engineering, stating that engineering had made a greater positive difference to human life than almost any other human endeavour. The annual £500,000 prize is funded by global engineering companies. It is defined as “a prize for bold, groundbreaking engineering innovations which is of global benefit to humanity”. The intent is to promote excellence in engineering and to celebrate engineering’s visionaries. It also aims to inspire young minds to consider engineering as a career choice and to encourage engineers to push the boundaries of what is possible. Since 2013, the prize has been awarded to, among others, the inventors of the internet, the inventors of GPS, and the inventors of LED lighting. In 2023, the prize went to the inventors of the technology in the solar panels now used worldwide. This year the prize goes to Henrik Stiesdal, recognized for his efforts in the development and widespread adoption of modern high-performance wind turbines. He shares the prize with Andrew Garrad, founder of the consultancy firm Garrad Hassan & Partners, which for decades has played a pivotal role in advancing the wind turbine industry. The announcement of the Prize was made tonight at an event at the Science Museum in London. In 2025, the prize will be formally presented by King Charles at Buckingham Palace. Announcement: Stiesdal SkyClean has entered into a new joint venture to develop large biogenic energy parks in Denmark. The new company is called Agri Energy. One Agri Energy biogenic energy park alone will have a climate impact in the range of 340,000-430,000 tons CO2e, depending on local configuration and conditions. Local suppliers and owner groups will annually contribute with feedstock totalling 250,000 tons of dry matter for each energy park. The project’s vision is to integrate agriculture into the renewable energy sector. We aim to establish a cooperative model where farmers are not just suppliers but also key stakeholders in the energy production process. This model ensures that the benefits of biogenic energy, such as bioenergy production and CO2 reduction, are shared with those who contribute their biomass resources. Participation in this initiative allows farmers to be involved in the entire bioenergy chain. From supplying straw to witnessing its transformation into gas, farmers will gain insights and benefits from this sustainable energy process and become important stakeholders in the energy transition. We are reaching out to local suppliers, owner groups, and interested parties to join us in this endeavor – initially in Denmark only. Join us as we work towards a Danish agricultural sector at the forefront of sustainable food production, one energy park at a time. Visit the Agri Energy website for more info and how to get in touch: https://agrienergy.dk.
