Isabella works with high voltage accessories that are vital for the green transition. Hear why she is so passionate about her role and the importance of diversity in NKT. ”We care so much about making the world greener, and we also care so much about making sure that everyone is included. 100 tons of diversity and inclusion support. In Cologne, July is a celebration month for diversity and inclusion and together with our close partners from 50Hertz Transmission GmbH our site in Cologne has made this special edition of a cable drum to show our support. The cable including drum weighs 100 tons. When we add the heavy load truck required to transport it to the intermediate storage area, the total weight reaches 180 tons. The 525 kV XLPE high-voltage DC cables on the drum will be used in the SuedOstLink project by 50Hertz. At NKT, we support the global campaign for societal change and push for increased inclusion. We want all our colleagues, regardless of their background, sexual orientation or gender identity, to feel valued and appreciated.  Thank you for joining us in making this drum a special one 50Hertz Transmission GmbH!

Monitoring, measuring, jointing, and repairing while you deservedly enjoy the beach with a book and a refreshing drink. From Sweden to Australia, the Service & Installation crew from NKT is working tirelessly throughout the summer to ensure power grids are working properly and installation projects can proceed. “Even though summer means a break from the office for many people, we are working full-on in Service & Installation at NKT. We always need to have a large community of highly qualified and competent personnel ready to accommodate the many needs of our customers. The world of cables never rests,” says Fredric Holmgren, Vice President of Service & Installation at NKT. The pictures below were taken by our crews while working on numerous projects and service assignments around the world. They were installing cables, preventing cable failures, and mitigating any issues. This maximizes the utility of power cable systems throughout the year, even during summer break. We have installed solar panels on the roof of the office building at our Cologne factory as part of decarbonizing the site. The 246 solar panels is a key step in eliminating natural gas and produce around 89,000 kWh/year corresponding to around 1/3 of the electricity consumption at the office. - Our sustainability initiatives are ultimately measured by what we implement. That is why I am particularly pleased that we were able to install the PV system. We are very active in working on further measures for the sustainable development of the site in Cologne, where we are currently focusing on the heating system, says Ulrich Beer, Environmental and Energy Manager in Cologne. Local initiatives are key to our decarbonization journey and the target of reducing scope 1 and 2 emissions with at least 90% in 2030 compared to 2019. We are well on the way with a 77.3% reduction end-2023. #decarbonization #solar #electrification

Offshore cable owners share a common problem. In order to be prepared for the eventuality of a cable failure, they have to maintain spares for each of the systems in their portfolio. This not only ties up a lot of capital in stock but also causes high warehousing costs and waste resulting from expiring components that never get used. Our Adaptive Rigid Sea Joint tackles this issue: Developed as a one joint design, it is capable of jointing most subsea HVAC export cables within a voltage range from 110kV to 300 kV. So, the rigid sea joint can serve as a spare for many assets. This allows the operators to reduce the number of joints in stock, associated cost of storage and the amount of waste. What a milestone! We have successfully utilized our new Integrated Jet Plough on NKT Victoria, enabling reliable simultaneous cable laying and burial operations for the 320 kV #HVDC power cable system for the BorWin5 offshore grid connection.
