Each year, Hempel A/S gives colleagues the opportunity to apply to experience first-hand the global philanthropic work of our majority owner, the Hempel Foundation. It’s called the iWitness Tour 💙 🌍 Joining from all over the world, colleagues travel to witness some of the Hempel Foundation’s sustainable development projects, and this year’s 10 iWitness Tour participants have just landed in Tanzania! 🤩 The tour began with a visit to a school in the Iringa district, central Tanzania, where the participants spent time with the children and learned about the Hempel Foundation's work there. Earlier this year, we introduced our Flexible Work policy, offering Hempel A/S colleagues the flexibility to thrive at home and at work 💙 While not all roles at Hempel offer the same level of flexibility, we believe that flexible work should be tailored to each employee’s specific needs and circumstances. For example, flexibility in work schedules could accommodate a later start for the school run, or an earlier start for days when there are meetings with colleagues and customers in other time zones 🌏 🎙️Meet Yong Chun Oon, Logistics Executive at Hempel in Singapore. Yong shares how Hempel’s Flexible Work policy has benefited his family 👇🏽 “I live in Singapore with my wife and our four-year-old daughter. “Both my wife and I are working, and since my wife is also studying, I’m responsible for dropping off and picking up our daughter from kindergarten. “My official work hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm, and with an additional hour of transportation each way, my daughter often stays in kindergarten until 7:00pm. “At Hempel, I work flexible hours, which allows me to provide a better upbringing for my daughter than I could if I worked elsewhere. “I work from home three days a week, which means I get to spend precious time with her in the afternoons and reduce my commuting time. “My daughter is learning to run, talk, sing new songs, and play new games. Thanks to Hempel’s Flexible Work policy, I get to experience all these wonderful moments with her. “Because I can work from home and prioritise my tasks, I also get to attend important events at the kindergarten. Hempel trusts me to manage my time and fulfil my responsibilities; this tremendous flexibility benefits my family. “Hempel offered me this hybrid flexibility from day one of my employment, and I really appreciate it. “The two days that I spend in the office are also a great source of joy. Being in the office allows me to engage in spontaneous conversations, share ideas, and catch up with colleagues over lunch. “This is where I connect, and it makes me feel a sense of belonging and camaraderie with my teammates. Sixteen riders representing Hempel A/S spent a year preparing for Europe’s most unique and challenging charity cycling event 🚴🏽 Organised by the Danish Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, Cykelnerven / Scleroseforeningen, Team Hempel tackled the French Alps in June, alongside main co-sponsor Vestas, to raise funds for MS research and treatment. 🚵🏽 Based on Tour de France 2024 routes, the riders conquered some of the most famous tour mountains, covering around 60-120km over four days. In Hempel’s 10th consecutive year as sponsor, a record-breaking collection of nearly EUR 2 million was raised by all 500 riders participating in the event ⭐ Michael Hansen, Group President & CEO at Hempel, Anders Holm, Executive Director of the Hempel Foundation, and Vadimas Verdingovas, Senior Scientist at Hempel were among this year’s participants. 🎙️ In this video, Michael, Anders and Vadimas share how Cykelnerven demonstrates Hempel’s commitment to being socially committed and they reflect on the personal connections many employees have to the cause. “The fight against sclerosis is a fight that many of our colleagues can relate to, even on a personal level as well,” says Michael. “When you are a successful large international company, I think you have an obligation to give back, and our employees would expect that of us as well.” Congratulations Team Hempel on this fantastic achievement! 🙌🏽🎉🚴🏽 #HempelAtHeart #MultipleSclerosis #SociallyCommitted #Teamwork 

From painter to Key Account Manager in the industrial coatings industry. 🎨💙A passion for colour and paint led Juergen Commercon, Key Account Manager DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), to Hempel A/S where he works with customers in the commercial vehicle industry 🚚🚛 We caught up with Juergen, before he takes off for the IAA TRANSPORTATION exhibition, to learn more about his career journey and his role at Hempel. H: How did you get into the coatings industry? J: I started an apprenticeship as a painter when I left school. I fell in love with this profession and started my own painting company, which grew to 15 employees in 10 years. Later, I transitioned into sales within the specialist painting trade, which led me to Hempel. H: What attracted you to join Hempel? J: I was inspired by the philanthropic efforts of the Hempel Foundation and how I could contribute to this through my daily work. Additionally, the team at Hempel truly stood out to me. The job application process was the most positive I’ve ever had. Joining Hempel has been the best decision of my career. H: What does your role involve? J: I support large international OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) in the commercial vehicle industry in the DACH region. They produce heavy duty vehicles, including trucks and trailers as well as components such as axles and tanks. My customers face various challenges, but the commercial vehicle industry shares some common issues. Chief among these is protecting products from corrosion to extend their lifecycle. This is closely linked to other significant challenges, such as meeting sustainability targets and reducing VOCs and CO2 emissions. To help customers solve these challenges, I need to understand their entire supply chain. As a trusted advisor, I help factory managers optimise processes. This includes proof-of-concept work, solution testing, trials, onboarding suppliers and implementation. Together with the rest of Hempel’s industrial team, we show customers how they can reduce emissions in their production. Something that they must reduce to meet the EU’s sustainability targets. H: What do you like best about your job? J: The variety in my work and the fact that I deal with a lot of different stakeholders. I love bringing people together with different competences to achieve a common goal. Networking is my superpower! And, of course, I love working with my dear Hempel colleagues. H: What’s in store for the rest of 2024? J: I look forward to showcasing our solutions to visitors at IAA Transportation. I’m proud to introduce our latest development, Hempaprime Shield 820. This product allows OEMs to achieve the patented Avantguard corrosion protection with fewer layers of paint, resulting in significant savings throughout the coating process. Meet Emilie Barriau, our new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Executive Vice President of Technology 🤩 What attracted Emilie to join Hempel A/S? “On the one hand it is the technology we serve,” says Emilie. “The way we protect the assets of our customers - the whole material science part and how we bring that into the business.” “On the other hand, it’s the values of the company and with the Hempel Foundation as an owner,” adds Emilie. “So really thinking about what we deliver in the business and how it can then help others in education, biodiversity, but also innovation.
