After an intensive participation and co-creation process the first draft of our public space and mobility concept "Altstadt für alle" (Old Town for Everyone) has just been published and presented to the public. The concept includes a number of recommendations and actions for making an “Old Town for Everyone“: • Introducing an updated parking strategy and circulation plan for all modes of transport • Improving walking and cycling conditions • Enhancing public transit, including a new micro bus and rickshaws • Improving conditions for logistics • Introducing 20 and 30 km/h zones • Enhancing green spaces and increasing the number of street trees • Creating more recreational areas • Implementing safe and fun school streets and more... Check out the photo for some of the headlines generated by the concept. Even though we have done our best to find the right balance between all modes of transport, it is in the nature of these projects that not everybody is amazed by the plan; for some the plans are too radical, for others not radical enough. We will therefore continue to work through to October, incorporating the positive and negative feedback and detail the concept further!
