Next Generation Digital Action and Digital Tech Summit last week is a wrap! 🏁 To each and every one of you who stopped by our booths, talked to our startups, and listened to the pitches from both the young academics and entrepreneurs from this year’s Next Generation Digital Action cohort - Thank you! 👏 Together, we bridged the gap between continents. We showcased fantastic innovative ideas and solutions to the world’s biggest challenges - all from young talents from all over the world. We are beyond happy for all the support we got from the many university representatives, embassies and delegates, and partners in the Next Generation [ ] Action-initiative. Your support is crucial in order to build a more sustainable society for everyone where innovation knows no borders. And on the last note. Digital Tech Summit Day 2! 🚀 The final day of Denmark’s largest deep tech event is live - and today is probably best summed up with the wonderful discipline of pitching. 🚀 Last Monday, we hosted more than 130 young academics and entrepreneurs at the Next Generation Digital Action Tech Bazar. A tour-de-force of solutions and creative ideas from different cultures and different disciplines, where solutions are not necessarily limited to a single country but on a global scale, can make an even bigger impact on our common society. 🔋➡️✈️ From turning your EV into a home battery to combat price surges and peak hours with non-renewable energy sources to software that’s able to combat corruption and create more transparency on public tenders and even drones that can collect waste in streams and monitor water quality in real-time making sure that bigger rivers and lakes are not as likely to be polluted. Last Monday, we looked into the future. For this panel discussion, we will dive into a demonstration of how bias works in real life and get smarter on how we can dismantle bias in the future. Incorporating your startup? There's a bit more to it than business plans. For instance: Network. Sharing of knowledge with peers. Expert insights. And a whole lot of legal! 📖🖋️ That was what we helped entrepreneurial researchers at DTU get one step ahead of the game by focusing on the overall topic of legal essentials when creating a spinout. And we invited some of the best people to cover it! ✅ We had Anders Kjær from PSV for an insightful presentation on legal considerations when making agreements with investors - based on the PSV checklist. ✅ LASSEN RICARD made sure that our attendees got a firm grip on legal considerations when incorporating, including shareholder agreements and much more ✅ And finally, Tomas Wikborg took us through how DTU as a whole works with the transfer of tech, including IP deals and licensing. Global Impact. 🌍✅ On October 28, we are showcasing the Next Generation Digital Action cohort of 17 startups and 23 student teams from all over the world working on using digital technologies to solve some of the most pressing challenges that our global society faces. In our youth-led initiative, Next Generation [ ] Action, we are doing that by asking: “How do we enable the younger generation’s ideas and perspectives and leverage them into actions that can societal transformation using digital technologies?” That’s one big tough nut to crack, right? Inside DTU Skylab: She has managed 300 events in 3 years 🤸♀️ Meet our Event Manager, Nicoline Mohr Lytsen. She has been with us for more than 3 years and has, since her start back in 2021, managed more than 300 internal and external events along with hundreds and hundreds of academic activities in our innovation hub. That activity caught the eye of the Danish trade union Teknisk Landsforbund, who came by recently to do a feature article on Nicoline's work as an Event Manager at our innovation hub. “The word innovation hub might sound buzzword-ish. But it is a way of saying that innovation does not rely on one single person. Skylab is a place that rearranges people. A place where people at different academic levels with different ambitions can meet each other,” Nicoline explained to the trade union's magazine. Prior to Nicoline’s entry into the world of innovation and entrepreneurship at DTU, she created and managed events for Ingeniøren, Distortion Festival, and Dansk Kvindesamfund. The focus was straightforward: the exchange of knowledge on how one can create solid ecosystems to support startups and potential unicorns 🦄 We dug into the ins and outs of a founder's mindset and how larger companies and corporations can collaborate with deep tech startups. On top of that, we touched upon the efforts being made by RISE Europe to establish Europe as one of the front drivers of innovation in the world - making us more resilient in the future tech race. New deep tech fund sees the light of day 🚀 With a hard cap of 80mEUR, PSV Hafnium is born as the first Danish deep tech fund solely focused on early-stage science-based deep tech startups from Denmark and the Nordics. 🌱 The new fund is of high importance to deep tech startups that usually have a longer progression to market, although their impact is equally as high or even higher than the traditional support from other venture funds. “There are plenty of funding opportunities aimed at startups working with software, but there are too few for deep tech companies, especially early-stage startups,” says Marianne Hyltoft, Funding and Managing Partner of PSV Hafnium.
