  • Climate resilience – how do we get there? This week, sustainability professionals from the business, finance and government sectors gathered in London for the Reset Connect London 2024 to discuss and address challenges related to climate resilience and decarbonisation of supply chains. At DSV, we are committed to lowering our carbon footprint and driving industry-wide emissions reduction efforts. That is why this event provided an ideal opportunity for our team of sustainability experts to connect, learn and be inspired by other professionals, large corporations, policymakers, tech providers and innovators. Anders Rousing, our VP of Group Operational Sustainability, brought unique insights to the panel discussion: Accelerating Supply Chain Decarbonisation: A Critical Route to Climate Resilience. The panel addressed various critical topics, including the adoption of energy-efficient transportation and the strategic sourcing of low-carbon materials. "It has been a pleasure to participate at Reset Connect London 2024, and we have gathered many valuable insights. Engaging in stimulating discussions with other sustainability professionals has been incredibly rewarding. At DSV, sustainability is ingrained at all levels, which is why it makes perfect sense for us to represent DSV in such a context. Not least because we are aware that if we are to make a difference, we must do it together with our customers, suppliers and relevant organisations," says Anders Rousing. How do we ensure circularity in logistics when it comes to repair and return services? This was one of the questions that our circularity experts addressed when we attended this year’s Reverse Logistics Association EMEA Summit in Amsterdam last week. As the world's only event dedicated to reverse logistics for industry professionals, the summit offers third-party service providers the opportunity to help manufacturers and retailers develop a deeper understanding of global support services in reverse logistics and the benefits these solutions provide. Contributing to the conversations taking place at the summit, Sean White MBA, Head of DSV’s Repair Services, and Aris Syntetos, Distinguished Research Professor of Decision Science at Cardiff University, presented a DSV case study, providing an overview of a right-sized solution for forecasting and planning of product returns and spare parts within the repair industry. “At DSV, we are dedicated to delivering data-driven solutions for circular supply chains, from repair services to return centers, based on world-leading research. The Reverse Logistics Summit was a great opportunity to connect with industry partners and gain new insights into case studies as well as best practices on creating circularity in supply chains. It has been very insightful, and I am confident that we are now even better positioned to create solutions that will make managing repair services easier in the future,” says Sean White. • Efficient and fast logistics are critical for the timely delivery of emergency aid to children affected by wars, conflicts, or natural disasters. That’s why we are proud to mobilise our global transport and logistics network and expertise in a new strategic partnership with UNICEF to provide efficient and fast delivery of aid and supplies to children in need worldwide. Through this collaboration, we will be providing UNICEF with in-kind flights for swift supply delivery during emergencies as well as flexible funding to enable timely support to children wherever the need is greatest. Furthermore, we will support the strengthening of national supply chains in Latin America to enhance sustained access to vital goods and services needed by children and their families. Our Group CEO Jens H. Lund says: “The world faces continued challenges that require effective solutions and support. This is why we have chosen to partner with UNICEF to ensure efficient humanitarian logistics for crisis-affected areas. A pre-established in-kind flight agreement is a cornerstone of this strategic partnership, enabling the delivery of critical supplies to children and their families anywhere in the world when it is needed.” To read more about the partnership, visit: https://bit.ly/3RF3jxa #HumanitarianSupport #Partnership #SupplyChains

  • Have you ever heard about additive manufacturing? Even if the term doesn’t ring a bell, you are probably familiar with one of the most well-known examples of this manufacturing practice: 3D printing. Additive manufacturing refers to the process of building a new part one layer at a time, and it can be a way for businesses to reduce physical stock, shorten lead times and cut tooling costs. This was also the case for Glory, an international leader in cash handling machines and systems. Together with our partner RemakerSpace, which is part of the PARC Institute of Manufacturing & Logistics run by Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, we are supporting Glory in identifying materials, components and processes that can help them realise the benefits of additive manufacturing for their low volume production parts. Learn how additive manufacturing made a difference for Glory and discover how this approach to spare parts can support your business in extending your product life cycles: https://bit.ly/3XfWPsm #CircularEconomy #AdditiveManufacturing #Collaboration #Innovation

When change invites new opportunities! 18 years ago, on 26 April 2006, we acquired the Dutch transport group Frans Maas. By joining forces, we went from being a Scandinavian player to a true Pan-European road transport and logistics provider. In addition to bringing in thousands of new and skilled employees, the acquisition enabled us to establish our own network in 11 European countries and contributed to a significant strengthening of our Solutions division. One of the employees who joined DSV through the acquisition in 2006 is Theo Hoogveld, who is a project specialist within Security & Facility Compliance in the Netherlands. He shares his insights from the time of the acquisition: “At first, DSV was a bit unknown to us in Frans Maas, and worries about whether we would keep our jobs and how our customers would experience this change occupied our thoughts. Even though the journey was not without challenges, it all turned out very well in the end, and we did not even notice that big of a change. Even synchronising our systems entailed little inconvenience, and it also became easier to attract new customers. To me, there is no doubt that the size of DSV created more opportunities for employees to grow into new positions.” Theo has now been part of DSV through many years of significant changes, and he has not regretted staying. “Personally, I have always had the opportunity to take on new challenges, both before and after the acquisition. Maintaining a varied job role is important to me, and that has been the case throughout. The high degree of responsibility that you are able to take on and the independence you are given are my favourite parts of working at DSV.” To learn more about our history and how DSV became the company that it is today, visit: https://bit.ly/3wgWr1z #Transport #Logistics #Anniversary
