Build-in-Wood is an European Horizon 2020 project. The project consortium consists of 21 partners from 11 countries (research institutes, universities, wood processing companies and agencies, architectural practices, planning bureaus etc.). The project’s aim is to reposition wood as first choice in construction of multi-storey (3 floors) buildings, setting new standards and enhancing a sustainable, climate friendly building trend. Projektet er formelt set afsluttet, men lever fra nu af videre igennem det levende laboratorium - Build-in-Wood Demonstrator - hos Teknologisk Institut i Høje-Taastrup. 🌲 Fem års intenst tværeuropæisk udviklingsarbejde med fokus på at fremme #træbyggeri er nu afsluttet. Teknologisk Institut har stået i spidsen for Build-in-Wood-projektet, og i går var projektets 21 partnere fra 12 forskellige lande samlet hos os for at dele resultaterne. 💪🎉 I projektet, der er støttet af EU, er der bl.a. udviklet et #byggesystem, der er optimeret til etagebyggerier af træ, og en særlig akustisk løsning til træbyggeri. Løsningerne demonstreres i praksis i en ny #testbygning af træ på Teknologisk Institut i Taastrup, som er under opførelse. 📊 Derudover har projektet inkluderet #beboerevalueringer af træbygninger, #LCA-analyser, #performancetest, #digitale #pilotprojekter, udvikling af en #designguide for træbyggeri, samarbejde med en række europæiske byer om træbyggeri - og meget mere. Ikke mindst har projektet formået at samle knap 2000 byggeprofessionelle med interesse for træbyggeri i det internationale onlinenetværk Build-in-Wood Community: https://lnkd.in/euvhsh-4 ”Vi er enormt stolte af det, vi har opnået i Build-in-Wood-projektet. #Informatives und #Inspirierendes gab es die letzten Tage in #Kopenhagen und #Taastrup. Der Abschluss des 5-jährigen EU-Projekts Build-in-Wood steht bevor und die Partner präsentierten, besichtigten und diskutierten die Projektergebnisse, die sich sehen lassen können. Keynote-Speaker Bob van der Zande eröffnete die Final Conference am zweiten Tag des Projekttreffens und zeigte auf, wie die Metropolregion #Amsterdam einen "Green Deal Holzbau" Wirklichkeit werden lässt. Besonders freute uns, gemeinsam mit unserem Tiroler Projektpartner rtd services OG und dem restlichen Konsortium, auch Vertreter der Early Adopter City #Innsbruck, des Bundesministeriums für Land- und Forstwirtschaft, Regionen und Wasserwirtschaft sowie der European wood policy platform (woodPoP) in Taastrup begrüßen zu dürfen. Der Build-in-Wood #Demonstrator als bleibendes und langfristiges #LivingLab steht stellvertretend für alle Projektergebnisse, die zu einer Erhöhung des (mehrgeschossigen und großvolumigen) Holzbaus in #Europa und darüber hinaus beitragen sollen. It was a pleasure to visit our Build-in-Wood Demonstrator project in sunny Copenhagen earlier this month to capture the progress on site at the Danish Technological Institute. The project looks to demonstrate the new ‘Build-in-Wood’ construction system, aiming to redefine the construction industry’s approach to sustainable building as an EU-supported Horizon 2020 project. Catching the building works while the structure remains exposed, you can see the bones of the building consist of glulam columns and beams with CLT floor slabs and a lightweight timber façade. Moisture sensors installed throughout the building are already providing live data to a digital twin, enabling the building to become a live testing facility for the system. To accompany our demonstrator building, the consortium, co-led by Waugh Thistleton Architects, have produced a series of instructional guides that offer a framework for building in timber. A series of three books, consisting of a System Guide, Component Selector, and Assembly Manual, detail the processes of this new timber building typology. We’re thrilled to announce the release of our Build-in-Wood guides! 📚 An essential resource for anyone interested in building in timber. The guides are a culmination of four years of work with The Danish Technological Institute alongside a team of experts from across the timber value chain, supported by the EU Horizon Fund. The consortium, co-led by Waugh Thistleton Architects, have produced a series of instructional guides that offer a framework for building in timber. A series of three books, consisting of a System Guide, Component Selector, and Assembly Manual, detail the processes of this new timber building typology, and are aimed at anyone interested in building in wood.
