No slides, just dialogue and Q&A - that's the essence when our Executive Management members engage with our colleagues on what we call EMConnects. These sessions are designed to foster discussions about our choices, strategies, and goals. A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of featuring our CCO, Jean-Christophe (JC) May. Four years ago, he joined Bavarian Nordic with the task of establishing a commercial organization. He provided a deep dive into our commercial strategy aimed at generating growth and discussed how the commercial team prioritizes the many must-win battles. We also learned why JC wears a sports watch, which is not just for show. 

‘If you have a brain, you have a bias’ were the frank words from Sara Louise Muhr when she visited us last week to unfold the challenging concept of unconscious biases. Having celebrated diversity and inclusion over the past month together with our colleagues in BNPride, we are ready to continue the dialogue, regardless of the time of the year. Sustainability is an integral part of our strategy and business and now we have also converted our undrawn credit facility into a sustainability-linked loan. This means the interest rate margin will adjust based on the success of our sustainability ambitions: · Access to Medicine: Develop and execute a strategy to expand access to our vaccines. · Responsible Supply Program: Increase the number of key suppliers undergoing third-party audits on environmental, social, and governance parameters. · Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared to our 2023 baseline. It calls for celebration. Over the past months, we have submitted a record-high number of regulatory submissions and succeeded with the commercial launch of our mpox vaccine in the US. We are proud to announce our commitment to support global efforts to address the mpox situation in Africa through a donation of 15,000 doses of our mpox vaccine. In partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, World Health Organization and UNICEF we will work to facilitate the availability of doses in response to the ongoing outbreak in the DRC and other African countries. Today, we announced the submission of a Marketing Authorization Application (MAA) to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) seeking approval of our vaccine candidate for immunization to prevent disease caused by #chikungunya virus infection in individuals 12 years of age and older. “The MAA marks our second major submission in just a few weeks as part of our efforts to launch the chikungunya vaccine next year in the U.S. and Europe. Chikungunya, like other mosquito-borne infectious diseases, represents an increasing public health threat due to factors such as climate-change, but also resulting from improved disease surveillance and diagnosis. Our vaccine candidate is designed for ease of use in individuals 12 years of age and older at risk of chikungunya virus and represents an important contribution to the development of preventative solutions against this debilitating disease,” said Paul Chaplin, President and CEO of Bavarian Nordic. Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Danish Minister for the Interior and Health, Sophie Løhde to our manufacturing facility in Denmark together with MEP Morten Løkkegaard and vice mayor of Helsingør Kommune, Mette Lene Jensen. The visit provided a great opportunity for us to highlight our company’s role on both a local and a global scale. Our CFO Henrik Juuel, CPO Anu Helena Kerns, and Head of Drug Substance Production Andrea Dahle-Morville met with the delegation to discuss vaccines as part of the critical infrastructure across borders and our contribution to recent EU initiatives such as HERA and rescEU, during and after the mpox outbreak. The meeting also highlighted our increased global presence and need for improving access to talents to help drive further growth and success for the Danish life-science industry.
