i'm able to get the bot to send an opening message "Hello! How can I assist you today?" and i'm unable to send in any more messages after that. struggling to figure out how to fix that, help would be greatly appreciated
Sadly, I don't own an openAI subscription right now, ping @Yggdrasil at the GDevelop's discord server general channel so I can directly connect with you and inform you when I get a chance to test the code, it should work if you haven't changed anything (unless the structure of the response had changed (you can check this at OpenAI docs about API usage)), but I'll check it anyway.

1.Do you get any "error" message? Like: "bad request" or "not authenticated" or "no credits(I don't remember the name of this one)".
2.What model are you trying to use?
