Artists can definitely draw however they like, I’d never enforce that…ever! Artists can have their artistic freedom and draw how they see fit. But even in HD, it is pretty clear that there’s no sideburns and the nose coloring is under the crown guard. That’s all I’m saying, nothing against no one! https://youtu.be/jO4pwSD0rtI?t=191
Ponies have had coat patterns, but much softer. See Sunburst or Gaffer.
Be they sideburns or not, there is some indecision in the fandom. And as an artist with a liking for sideburns, I’m leaning to the side that they are sideburns.
And the line above his eyes that forms the armor-like guard on his nose (or a coat pattern, depending on how you look at it) to me, feels a bit too sharp to be a coat pattern. Which is why I’ve drawn it as a guard. Which, in my mind, is separate from the crown itself.
I think Sombra’s color scheme doesn’t really lend itself well to definite details in this case, unfortunately. Could be a protective armor as the fact that he does wear armor would suggest, and the few light gray stripes the headpiece had in S3 but not S9 makes this a little more muddled. Or it could be a coat pattern, which wouldn’t be weird considering his color scheme.
Not only does he not have side burns, but the black nose piece that’s on the crown, when the set comes off, he still has a black line going down his nose! A common thing for horses and ponies!
Wait… did we just call it a helmet? It’s so obviously a crown lol
True, he does. Just keep the helmet on him I guess. (It at least hides his receding hairline)
But he looks so good with sideburns!
Why would you think they were sideburns? They were shown flying from his face. If they’re part of the helmet model, they’re part of the helmet, they’re not facial hair. The comics do have lovely art and Andy Price is a great artist, but they aren’t canon, and all comics are drawn with the preferences of the artist rather than official, established and correct models.

Apperently due to his helmet being blown off and them going with it in S3 many thoight they weren’t but I think they are. Was probably an animation error, as they are part of the helmet model.
In the comics they are drawn in better detail which is ok, I think aestetically they have really good art.

here yeah, they’re great sideburns, but in acc canon he doesn’t have sideburns lol
Uhhh… he does have quite prominent sideburns.
Thank you :) Also, poor peasant, he’s working the mines for next 10 years for this insult.
Man he looks really badass.
