Home Alone 2 is so contrived that it makes the first one feel completely natural, like “oh, of course, this string of coincidences is perfectly ordinary.” However, it’s a solid attempt at recapturing the magic of the first.
Also, watching it for the first time 30 years after the fact makes it into a pretty neat little time capsule from my childhood in the 90s.
