I had last week the incredible opportunity / chance 🍀 to attend a shrimp harvest in a farm at Banyuwangi, Indonesia 🇮🇩 Really impressive: from 6 kg of baby shrimp placed in a pond of 4,000 sqm, 110 days later, about 14 tons of adult shrimp ready to be cooked and eaten are harvested!🍤 🍤😋😋 After being sorted, the shrimp are refrigerated and sent to a factory which will finalize the preparation & packaging and will ship them to the USA 🇺🇸 or to Europe 🇪🇺 Biosecurity in shrimp farms is key and crucial to have great and premium quality shrimp! #Virkon Aquatic is the perfect biosecurity partner for shrimp growers to make them confident and serene!👍💪 #Lanxess #LanxessBiosecuritySolutions #ShapingTheFutureofBiosecurity #Disinfectant #Shrimp #Biosecurity

📢 Recent outbreak of African Swine Fever in Poland and Germany Since June 4th, nine cases of ASF have been reported in Poland, mainly in smaller farms. 🐷 In Germany 3,500 animals have been killed due to ASF on a fattening farm near Pasewalk. How the virus was able to enter the farm is still being investigated. 🕵️ The affected farm is under lockdown. A protection zone with a radius of three kilometers and a surveillance zone with a radius of ten kilometers have been set up to ensure that the virus does not spread to any of the surrounding farms. The economic damage caused currently amounts to over 800,000 euros. However, fattening farms can receive compensation for the animals killed. African Swine Fever is a viral infection that only affects pigs. 🐷 It is almost always fatal and incurable. There is no way to protect pigs through vaccination. 💉 The disease can be transmitted directly from animal to animal or indirectly from humans to other areas via contaminated objects such as clothing, vehicles or feed.
