There are at least 3 good reasons for using silica from Evonik in food processing. Silicon dioxide (E551) is a safe, EFSA and FDA-approved food additive. As an anti-caking agent, it keeps powdered foods and ingredients highly pourable and free flowing. This helps avoid food waste during the production process. At the same, less caking inside pipes and spray drying means less machine downtime and less water and energy for cleaning. Silica also ensures exact ingredient and nutrient dosing, as well as convenient handling of food powders and spices by customers.
