The Institute of Technical Physics at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) develops laser systems for applications in aerospace as well as in the areas of security and defence. At the Institute’s locations in Stuttgart and Lampoldshausen, scientists, engineers and technicians work on interdisciplinary topicsin the following key areas • Detection and orbit manipulation of space debris • Laser-based remote detection of harmful and hazardous substances • Long-Range Laser Effectors • Laser-based flight instruments (air data) With many years of experience in the development and evaluation of high-power laser systems and active optical system technologies, research into long-range beam propagation and laser-matter interaction, the Institute of Technical Physics is a centre of excellence for civil security and defence research.
