Bouwwegen zijn karakteristiek voor Nederland. Het ontbreken van een gestandaardiseerde ontwerpmethode of keuzemodel resulteert vaak in een over- of ondergedimensioneerd ontwerp, slechte bereikbaarheid en werkomstandigheden op de bouwplaats en onnodige kosten. Een integrale ontwerpmethode voor bouwwegen, toegespitst op de Nederlandse situatie, kan uitkomst bieden.

An integrated procedure for pavement design based on recent Netherlands practice of temporary and public roads engineering is presented in this paper. An integrated procedure for pavement design based on recent Netherlands practice of temporary and public roads engineering is presented in this paper. The procedure covers elements in temporary road design for present day resi-dential site conditions including new pavement and foundation materials, heav-ier traffic loads, drainage alternatives, stability and consolidation and different foundation soils. Account is made of pre-design and project requirements, site preparations, upgrading potential, and life-cycle costs. Pavement selection is based, after certain project and technical conditions are met, on construction and ‘upgrade’ costs. A model to calculate traffic loads on residential construc-tion sites as a function of the project characteristics is also developed.
