Supporting the World Bank and the Government of Botswana in assessing the potential for CCS in the country. The study involved three elements: (1) geological assessment (2) legal and regulatory assessment and (3) capacity building. Carbon Counts supported the geological assessment by assisting in-country geologists with international standards and methods for geological basin storage assessment. It led the legal and regulatory review which identified options and gaps for regulating CCS in the country; and, it also designed and led a study tour for Botswana government delegates to learn about CCS around the world under the capacity-building programme. It is also recently supporting the World Bank in informing senior government officials about the work and potential next steps for implementation.
