Supporting PMR and Government of Chile to identify and understand how the planned Carbon tax will interact with the full range of other policy measures in place for Chile’s energy sector. This includes the renewable energy obligation law (NCRE), the range of energy efficiency measures, and other polcies such as Chile’s Energy 2050 policy roadmap.

Working with partners to implement a review of gas flaring legislation in Mexico, and a pilot project for a flare and vent gas measurement in the country. The principal objective is to support upstream oil and gas regulators in the recently established National Hydrocarbon Authority, as well as PEMEX, in implementing the new national gas flaring and utilisation legislation. Study tour to Alberta, Canada, with support from AER.

Working with partners to design the Rules of Contest for an Inducment Prize (Horizon Prize) for technologies which can utilise CO2 to produce industrial or consumer products.

Supporting the World Bank and the Government of Botswana in assessing the potential for CCS in the country. The study involved three elements: (1) geological assessment (2) legal and regulatory assessment and (3) capacity building. Supporting the World Bank and the Government of Botswana in assessing the potential for CCS in the country. Supporting the World Bank and South Africa Department of Energy in preparing a regulatory framework for CCS projects in South Africa. Carbon Counts was lead author to the key output from the study, which set out options for a CCS regulatory framework in South Africa.
