💻 Global tech player Microsoft visits IT.NRW💻 Mircosoft goes NRW: Angela Heise, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Worldwide Public Sector met IT.NRW President Dr. Oliver Heidinger for a professional exchange. One focus of the discussion was Microsoft's decision to set up hyperscalers in the Rhenish mining district. Microsoft is thus planning extensive investments in a location in the direct neighbourhood of the former Frimmersdorf lignite-fired power plant. A modern, future-proof and, above all, climate-neutral data centre for Information und Technik Nordrhein-Westfalen (IT.NRW) is to be built there on over 20,000 square metres. #digitallocationrheinischesrevier   Another topic was the role of private sector providers of cloud services in the multicloud environment of the central public IT service provider of the state administration, IT.NRW. In addition to the direct focus of the German Administration Cloud, IT.NRW is also pursuing the goal of acting as a cloud incubator to make offers from private cloud providers technically and legally securely available to public authorities and administrative organisations.   Thank you very much for our intensive exchange Angela Heise.
