To integrate taps into a trowalizing system, we designed a gripper to navigate the complex interference contours, which varied with different loading positions in the machine and during the pickup of taps from the magazines. The solution was the development of a triple gripper, utilizing our built-in GP400 standard component and an individually tailored jaw set. 💡 Highlights: ✅ IP40 ✅ Pneumatic ✅ External gripping ✅ Spring-based safety device to maintain grip force even in case of pneumatic failure Curious? Did you know that we manufacture close to 1,000,000 parts per year by using metal injection molding? #MIM Jake Hall does a great job highlighting this process and ZiMo, our new flexible robot cell, which provides profitable automation solutions with its flexible configuration and intuitive setup. 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 you can injection mold metal? 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 aka "MiM" is a process that first gained traction in the 1990's that has now turned into a $𝟑 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲. During my time here in Germany I toured the Zimmer Group facility which uses MiM to manufacture in-house components as well as contract manufacture for hundred of other companies. The general process for MiM is to mix a combination of #powderedmetal of either steel or titanium with a polymer or plastic material. It's injected into a mold to create it's initial form. Afterwords its baked in an oven to remove the binder which can reduce the overall size by 20-30%. This process is used for complex parts where production is in the thousands compared to standard CNC subtractive manufacturing. At the end of the video you can see a injected part vs a completed part compared to a similar CNC'ed part. Zimmer Group has many setups of this process which also feature their new ZiMo flexible robot cell that allows customers to create easy machine tending with a selection of different #robots and #cobots tied in with a PLC and pneumatic control. The Universal Robots used a GZ1000 gripper for the machine tending and part picking. You can learn more about Zimmer Group US and their new ZiMo solution they are bringing to market in the comments below! Stay tuned for more cool stories and manufacturing from my time here in Germany! #TheManufacturingMillennial #Manufacturing #Automation #Robotics #RoboticAutomation #Germany #TheKnowHowFactory #Zimmer #ZimmerGroup #EoAT
