What do rainbow colours and spectroscopy have to do with each other? 🌈 ZEISS spectrometers use optical gratings to disperse light into its constituent wavelengths, also known as spectrum. This helps to identify and quantify various materials with unparalleled precision. For over 150 years, ZEISS Spectroscopy solutions and components have been used to analyse matter. Today, solutions from ZEISS Spectroscopy are applied in agriculture to assess the quality of harvested crops and in semiconductor production to control wafer manufacturing processes, for example. A #microchip transforming driving safety – that’s the vision Davide is bringing to life. 🚗 Davide and his team are driving real change from Ulm, Germany. After experiencing a car accident himself, where, like in 94% of cases, human error played a role, he is now steering towards a safer future. The Head of Strategy and Business Development at Scantinel Photonics, a spin-off company of ZEISS, works towards the goal of zero car accidents. 🔧 Scantinel develops #sensors that enable cars to drive themselves even in challenging weather conditions like fog or snow – without the human risk factor. Built on small chips, these sensors are anything but bulky, yet they have a big impact on our safety. Discover how the innovations could help end human-caused crashes: https://lnkd.in/dUJzdwJw #ZEISS #Mobility #Innovation #AutonomousDriving #VisionZero

With High-NA-EUV #lithography, an optical resolution of less than 10 nanometers is possible on the microchip. This cutting-edge technology requires the most precise mirrors in the world. 🪞 If you were to enlarge one of these mirrors to the size of Germany, the largest unevenness would be just 0.1 millimeters – almost as fine as a human hair. 🔍 The mirrors for High-NA-EUV lithography weigh several hundred kilograms, making them about twice as large and around 10 times as heavy as current EUV mirrors. Achieving the required precision takes months, and the mirror surface must be measured several times in the subnanometer range. When integrated in the optical system, these mirrors collect the light and ensure the projection of the photomask onto the wafer. This is how even more powerful and energy-efficient #microchips for global digitalization will be manufactured, enabling the technologies and innovations of tomorrow. Say hi to Carl, the very first mini version of our founding father! 👋 On this day, 208 years ago, he was born in Weimar, Germany. Carl Zeiss spent most of his life in #Jena, where he founded the company and made history for both the city and the world of optics. Now, this limited edition #PLAYMOBIL figure of Carl Zeiss is here to travel with our #teamZEISS and keep his spirit alive. The figure is holding a microscope in his left hand and the first illustrated product catalogue on microscopes from 1881 in his right hand. 🔬 Happy birthday, Carl Zeiss! 🎉 Do you have a PLAYMOBIL Carl at home? If yes, feel free to share a picture in the comments! #ZEISS #History #Throwback
