Women in Big Data Berlin
Management von Nonprofit-Organisationen
The WiBD Berlin supports talents in the field of big data and give them possibility for networking, mentoring & training
Info
Women in Big Data (WiBD) started as a grass-roots organization in 2015 with the mission to inspire and connect women in big data careers. Starting with 15 members and one chapter in San Francisco’s Bay Area, the WiBD community grew to over 17,000 members across 37 chapters and six continents spreading inspiration, growing networks, and promoting member success on an ever-expanding platform. In 2020, the organization filed paperwork that shifted Women in Big Data from grassroots to non-profit, expanding funding capabilities and laying a foundation for a new mission. The founders realized that, as important as inspiration and connection are, their ability to move the needle on a future in which gender and resources don’t limit equitable participation is finite. A new mission was outlined to cultivate tangible opportunities; unlock latent potential, act as a catalyst for advancement, and empower equity allies of any gender. In 2022 we opened a new chapter in Berlin and we are looking forward to welcome you in our network! Women in Big Data is an inclusive community who appreciate that, in the broadest sense, big data is a tool being harnessed at every level, in every industry today, to shape tomorrow. Broader diversity among leaders and practitioners will improve the use and function of big data, ensuring a future that’s better for all of us.

Happy Sunday dear Women in Big Data Berlin community! 😍🙌 We hope, you had an amazing weekend 🌞 If you haven't listened to the #TEDx #talk of Katarzyna (Kasia) Stoltmann yet, we have written down some lessons learned that are important to #develop #data, #datascience, and #AI #driven #products. 🔮 When developing a #solution , it's very important to consider the #conscious and #unconscious #biases in: 👉 #databasis : Is the #data #balanced (e.g., in terms of #genders, is the #representation same?)? As we know that #notbalanceddata can lead to #discriminating #outcomes 👉 #models: are the models verified that they are not delivering #discriminating #outcomes? 👉 #design: is the #product designed for all #targetusers? Was it developed with the #users? 👉 #team: How was the team selected? Is it #diverse (in term of #factors like: gender, professional background, culture)? Does the team include user representatives? Which #product was perfect from the #beginning? 👉 In terms of #data, #datascience and #AI #driven products, it's very important to #listen to the #users and to improve the #solution #continuously 👉 For the users: It's always important to #validate the outcomes of the solution and deliver honest #feedback. THE SOLUTIONS ARE FOR YOU DEAR USERS! Link to the #TEDx #talk: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eNFRuyVS ESMT Berlin Women in Big Data Berlin Women in Big Data Aliya Boranbayeva Anita F. LAST BUT NOT LEAST: ℹ️ How can we use #AI as #catalyst for more #diversity and #inclusion in the #future? In her #TEDx, Kasia emphazised how important is the #diversity of the #AI #productteam - we definitely need there more women - it's a call to our community Women in Big Data Berlin : 📢 🙏Please join #AIproductteams and make an #impact on the future product. 📢🙏Please give feedback to the teams. The biggest #risk of #AI is not using #AI🔮 Huge congratulations to the ESMT Berlin team for the great organization of this #event👏👏👏 KUDOS deserved especially Michael Knoer , Christian Daniel Flossbach Lucas Benedetta Mariani 👏💪🎉 Bosun Kim thank you very much for the recommendation! 🙏 Big congrats to all #speakers of the #event, who made it so special! 👏🎉🔥🧠 Rosanna Sibora 🧠 ➕ ❤️ Bianca Praetorius Andreea-Maria Mandeal Boris Eldagsen Dr. Carmen Köhler Philip Groth Neil Metzler Sebastian "The Connector" Herz (贺思安) Bedeir Rizk Johanna Rüdiger Niels Van Quaquebeke Hannah Kromminga Angelo Camufingo #TEDx #TEDxTalk #esmt #AI #AIsolutions #productdevelopment

Mira Murati Steps Down as OpenAI CTO OpenAI ’s Chief Technology Officer, Mira Murati, has announced her departure after six and a half years, citing the desire for new personal exploration. In her post on Twitter X, she emphasised her focus on ensuring a smooth transition for the company as it continues its upward trajectory. During her tenure, Murati was instrumental in launching some of OpenAI’s most groundbreaking innovations, including #ChatGPT and #DALL-E. As one of the most visible women leaders in tech, she has been a role model for countless women, showing what can be achieved in a male-dominated industry. Her departure serves as a reminder of the importance of female leadership in shaping the future of technology. CEO Sam Altman acknowledged the unexpected nature of her exit but recognised the natural evolution of leadership in rapidly growing companies like OpenAI. Along with Murati, two other senior leaders, Bob McGrew and Barrett Zoph, are also stepping down. Murati reflected on her time at OpenAI, celebrating the team’s work in advancing AI research and developing systems that push the boundaries of technology: "We didn’t just build smarter models; we changed how AI systems learn and reason through complex problems." Her departure, ahead of OpenAI’s Dev Day, comes as the company recently raised billions in funding and transitions into a for-profit model. Murati leaves behind a lasting legacy and continues to inspire women across the tech sector. #WomenInTech #AILeadership #MiraMurati #OpenAI #DiversityInTech
