At this year’s customer event, we kicked off the "Source of Digitalization" plenary session with Juergen Abraham, where we explored the future of the paper industry and the digital transformations underway. We were honored to hear from several industry leaders: 🔹 Dr. Thomas Welt, CEO of Laakirchen Papier AG, and Peter Eisen, President P&S EMEA at Voith Paper presented on “Unleashing Process Potentials to Save Millions with OnEfficiency.” 🔹 Fernando Carroquino Larraz, Industrial Director at Saica Group and Dominik Stempfle, Technical Sales & Project Mngt. OnCare at Voith Paper shared insights on “AI-Driven Condition Monitoring Starts Now.” 🔹 Lars Mallasch, Group Technical & Sustainability Director at Mondi Group, offered a personal perspective on “The Future of Mill Operation: Who's in Control?” with Ulf Grohmann, Director Product Mgmt Autonomous Mill at Voith Paper. The panel discussion, led by Jürgen Abraham, President Products & Services and Digital Business Officer at Voith Paper, focused on the autonomous paper mill. The engaging debate among Lars Mallasch, Fernando Carroquino, and Dr. Thomas Welt cut through the hype surrounding digitalization and artificial intelligence, emphasizing cutting-edge tools and best practices that streamline processes, promote sustainability, enhance resource efficiency, and ensure the competitiveness of paper mills. Together with Andreas Endters, we exchanged ideas with Francisco Razzolini, CTO of Klabin, Ying Guangdong, Vice GM & Chief Engineer at Sun Paper, Austin Davey, President Paper Division at Pratt Industries, and Nezihe Sinem Öksüz Dedebayraktar, Board Member & CEO Paper and Packaging Division at Kipaş Kağıt. We gained valuable insights and discussed successful strategies to make paper production sustainable for future generations. We had an inspiring Innovation Tour as part of our "Source of Success" customer event! Our speakers, Nina Köpl and Benjamin Mendez, gave an exciting insight into the testing capabilities of our pilot coater, the impressive capabilities of our Technology Center ind Heidenheim and the upcoming SpeedSizer CL. Participants enjoyed delicious nucao chocolate bars 🍫, wrapped in sustainable paper packaging, while exploring various innovation stations: • Anne Klaschka introduced us to the topic of circularity for press felts. • Dr. Christina Bauer showcased the groundbreaking SolarFlow Green, a bio-based suction press roll cover. • Fabian Koeberle and Peer Schotge demonstrated the SharkBlade, SlitterCare, and our new slitter dust removal system. • Andreas Weis presented the innovative QualiFlex press sleeves, as well as the SupremeFilm roll cover and MultiForm IC2 forming fabric. • Kai-Uwe Stettinger from BTG presented the benefits of their rods, beds, and blades. • Cedric Fitzer and Reinhard Holl delved into the topic of perforated polymeric films for forming and drying. Key highlights included: 🚀 Pilot Line for Carbon Neutral Papermaking Led by Matthias Höhsl, we showcased a process innovation that brings water usage in tissue papermaking significantly down – a major step forward in sustainable production.
