VEE’S SUSTAINABILITY UPDATE FOR EARTH DAY 🌎
This Earth Day, we acknowledge the impact that the fashion industry has on the environment. While VeeCollective is far from perfect, we have come a long way in our journey to become the best version of ourselves and to lead the industry in sustainable and innovative practices. Here are ten accomplishments that VeeCollective is proud of and a look into how we plan to be better in the future:
10 THINGS VEE IS PROUD TO BE DOING 🌼
1. Since 2020 all of our bags are made of 100% recycled materials. Including: fabric, lining, filling, thread, webbing, mesh, zips, vegan leather.
2. VeeCollective only partners with certified manufacturers and suppliers that provide living wages to their employees and do not take part in banned practices such as child labor. We work with two factories to make our bags which we know well and visit and audit annually.
3. As part of our carbon reduction goals, 96% of shipping volume from our factories in Vietnam to our global warehouses in Hong Kong, Italy, Germany and the US is by sea.
4. 100% of our fabrics are Oekotex, Bluesign and GRS (Global Recycling Standard) certified, minimizing impact and use of toxic/hazardous materials in the production process.
5. 100% of Vee packaging is recycled and recyclable. This Summer we will introduce our new FSC-certified, durable paper care bags which are 100% natural and recyclable. This is the lowest impact packaging concept on the market.
6. In 2023 we donated more than €100,000 to charities and foundations focusing on topics that we care about: women, children and sustainability.
7. As a female founded and led company, we are committed to elevating female empowerment. At VeeCollective 85% of all employees are female including leadership and executive functions.
8. We believe in diversity. Our Berlin based team originates from 11 different countries from 4 continents.
9. Our products are 100% vegan, animal and cruelty free.
10. In order to demonstrate our commitment and commit to improve further, we are proud to be B Corp certified this Summer.
FUTURE GOALS 🏆
1. Introduce annual public sustainability report in 2024 for full transparency and accountability on sustainability KPIs and future goals.
2. Be Carbon Neutral by 2025 through insetting, certified offsetting and further emission reduction.
3. Eliminate all plastic from our packaging by 2025.
4. Increase percentage of natural materials in product to 50% by 2028.
5. Switch to Bio Nylon by 2030 latest.
