Girls’Day at Ubisoft Berlin On April 25th the nation-wide job-orientation day Girls’Day took place again and Ubisoft Berlin opened its doors for 20 aspiring game developers! How are games produced? What does a programmer do? How do artists work? What is on the table of a Designer? All these questions were answered when Ubisoft Berlin welcomed 20 girls aged 10-14 to give insight into the way we are making games. The day started at 10am with a short introduction to the company and the games industry followed by a full day packed with different workshops which consisted each of a theory and a practice part: Production, Game Design, Game Art, Programming. Divided into 2 groups, the girls were asked to create their own games and develop them further in the practice parts based on the respective theory. The interesting thing here: there were no working stations or laptops installed and the girls created their games, levels, props and characters the old-fashioned way with a whiteboard, crayons, paper sheets and glue. At the end they presented their game projects to the group and took home not only a polaroid of them with their teams but also a lot of laughter, great memories and most importantly: the first steps taken in their possible future career in game development. We thank all the girls who participated as well as the great team of Ubisoft Berlin mentors who made Girls’Day possible this year! Develop at Ubisoft! On April 11th we celebrated with our mentees in Berlin who crossed the finish line of their 5 months mentoring program and presented their final project results! Jana and Stefanie participated in our latest edition of the Develop at Ubisoft mentoring program and worked each on their own programming project together with their mentors from Ubisoft Berlin, Jonathan and Daniel. The Develop at Ubisoft program is a mentorship opportunity for women and non-binary students and freshly graduated that offers insight into the game development areas Programming and Game Design. Applications are open around September/October and chosen mentees will be paired in a 1:1 combination with a Ubisoft expert from their respective fields. Over the course of the coming months the mentees will develop their own project – within the frame of a pre-chosen topic. In regular meetings with their mentors, the mentees can develop their project iteratively, get to know workflows of the industry, grow and learn. Jana and Stefanie, who both chose the “Escape & Space Exploration” topic did a great job on their projects and presented to us their stunning results on April 11th during the Closing Ceremony we had at Ubisoft Berlin studio. The ceremony was rounded off by doughnuts and some nice casual chats about their studies, the games industry and the mentees’ projects. Thanks a lot to everyone who participated and made the Develop at Ubisoft mentorship program a huge success for Ubisoft Berlin this year! Diversity, Equity & Accessibility Specialist // Sustainability Facilitator

Ubisoft got recognized as a top LGBTQIA friendly employer in Germany by UHLALA Group! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ In a long journey of progress regarding equity, the German Studio Network (Ubisoft Düsseldorf, Ubisoft Mainz & Ubisoft Berlin) has achieved the status of being one of Germany's top employers when it comes to LGBTQIA inclusion. This achievement is a testament to our dedication to creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The journey towards this milestone began in 2019 when we decided to take part in the German Pride Audit for the first time. This audit is an evaluation process that assesses a company's inclusivity in Organizational Structures, HR, Communication, Visibility, Legal Frameworks and Regulations. The audit comprises around 75 questions, and the responses must be substantiated with concrete actions and evidence. It is not a “pay-to-win” seal, but a genuine one, which was and is a very important factor for us. However, in the initial assessment in 2019, we scored just about 40%, revealing that there was room for improvement in becoming an LGBTQIA inclusive employer. Undeterred by this initial score, we embarked on a journey of change, with many teams and individuals working tirelessly towards a common goal: to create a safe workplace where queer employees felt valued and respected. The involved teams were Public Affairs, HR, Workplace and Property Management, Talent Development, Communications and Procurement. Studio Management, with Benedikt Grindel, Derek Patterson and Thomas Pottkämper, supported our cause as well, giving feedback in Pride Audit and Studio Strategy meetings. Furthermore, Ubisoft established a dedicated Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Team at our headquarters, with Raashi Sikka (she/her) as VP of Global DIA. This team has provided us with a wealth of roadmaps and goals that we've been able to adapt and implement at the local level. Many members of this team continue to maintain ongoing communication with us, offering valuable support as we work together to advance our efforts. Now, after 4 years of dedicated effort and a commitment to fostering inclusivity, we achieved a remarkable feat this year by scoring 84% in the Pride Audit. This score secured Ubisoft's position as a top employer and Pride Champion. And while we have achieved our goal of surpassing 80%, we remain committed to continuous improvement. In our ever-changing society, where progress and diversity are paramount, it's crucial that we adapt and evolve our diversity management practices to ensure that our workplace remains a safe and inclusive space. We believe that there is always more we can do to support our employees and to create a place where everyone feels valued and respected. As we move forward, we will remain proactive in our efforts to enhance equity, ensuring that our offices remain shining examples of progress and acceptance ❤️ #pride #diversity #lgbtq
