Did you know, that #sustainability is deeply embedded in our #TRATONGROUP strategy? This week, we're proud to highlight Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus (VWTB) for their strides in circular #logistics. Through a robust packaging reuse process at the Resende plant in Brazil, VWTB saves around R$2 million annually on #transportation and containers. This initiative not only reduces costs but also avoids CO2 emissions and advances our commitment to a #CircularEconomy. Key results of this initiative include: 🔄 Circularity in Action: 90% of suppliers aligned with the circular packaging strategy. 📦 Innovative Packaging Management: Efficient management of universal and special packaging, reducing waste and maintaining product quality. 🔧 Extending the lifespan of reusable packaging to reduce environmental impact. 📊 Optimizing packaging and transportation, resulting in fewer movements and labels, and increased storage capacity. By implementing systemic measures, #VWTB sets an example in the industry, aligning #innovation with sustainable practices that benefit both #business and the environment. #ESG #TransformingTransportationTogether #ClimateAction

With the start of New York Climate Week, #Sustainability takes center stage. At #TRATONGROUP, we are committed to reducing CO₂ emissions not only in our products, but also across our own #logistics processes. 🌍 🌱 Logistics is essential throughout a truck's lifecycle, from moving parts to delivering finished vehicles. Did you know that using rail #transportation can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 80%? 🚆💡 That's why, #TRATON collaborates with Hödlmayr International AG to shift more freight from road to rail. With support from TRATON, Hödlmayr is developing special wagons for the high & heavy segment, which allow tractor units to be transported by rail despite their height challenges, leading to significant emissions reducitions. Our brand MAN Truck & Bus SE already operatees a train delivering vehicles from its Niepolomice plant near Krakow, Poland, saving approximately 0.6 tons of CO₂ emissions per vehicle. Hödlmayr makes CO₂ emissions in logistics transparent, by using an emissions tracking tool from Scania Group start-up Elain to analyze CO₂ data for high & heavy transports in Europe and Turkey. This initiative, along with our #ElectricVehicles already in use at the MAN plant in Germany and the Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus plant in Brazil, reflects our commitment to transforming logistics for a more #sustainable future. At this week’s IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024, the decarbonization of road freight #transportation is the focus of our #TRATON brand appearances.🌱 Under the motto "Simplifying Business", MAN Truck & Bus SE presents its portfolio and celebrates the world premiere of its #BatteryElectric 12-ton eTGL. 🚛 With the addition of this light distribution #transport truck, MAN now offers a complete #electric portfolio from 12 to 50 tons. With a range of up to 235 kilometers, fast charging in around 30 minutes and a payload of up to 6,600 kilograms, it offers the ideal combination for quiet and locally CO2 -free transport in urban goods logistics for food chains, retailers or the catering industry.🔌 The "heavy" brothers of the eTGL, the 18- to 28-ton MAN eTGX and MAN eTGS, are also on display. For the first time, MAN is also presenting a battery layout with a seventh high-voltage battery for the MAN eTGX 6x2 chassis. This additional battery significantly extends the range, allowing for about 650 km without recharging, depending on driving habits.🔋 The MAN eTGX and MAN eTGS are gearing up for the upcoming MCS megawatt charging standard with a capacity of up to 1.000 kW. This allows recharging during the driver's rest period. ⚡️ There's still time before Sunday, September 22. September, to visit the booth of MAN in Hall 12, booth C04. #TransformingTransportationTogether #TRATONElectrifies #Technology #Sustainability

🌍 How are alternative fuels facilitating climate-neutral driving?🌱 Alternative fuels, also known as clean or renewable fuels, are crucial in reducing emissions from #transportation and achieving EU climate goals. These CO2-neutral fuels, whether liquid or gaseous, are preoduced from #electricity, ideally from renewable sources like solar and wind energy. They are energy-dense and can be used in traditional combustion engines without technical modifications. However, the are less efficient than #BatteryElectric vehicles and have high production costs due to limited industrial infrastructure. With approximately 8.1 million heavy #trucks contributing to about one-third of road #transport emissions, the transport sector is a major CO2 emitter in Europe. 🚛 The European Commission aims to reduce these emissions by 90% for new trucks by 2040. Hydrogen and e-fuels hold promise for the future, though widespread use faces challenges due to infrastructure gaps and production energy losses. Biofuels, such as HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) and biogas, offer immediate solutions, although their reliance on organic matter sparks debate. The road to zero emissions by 2050 is complex, but the adoption of alternative fuels represent a significant step forward. Did you know that Scania Group and SCA are paving the way for fossil-free heavy #transport with an #BatteryElectric timber truck designed for tough conditions? 🚚 The world’s first electric timber truck was deployed in Sweden in 2022. Since then, this vehicle has already covered over 46,000 kilometers, equivalent to more than one lap around the globe. 🌍 Over a year of operation, the electric timber truck contributes to reducing CO2-emissions by approx. 55,000 kg annually. "The cooperation with Scania is an important way for us to jointly find innovative solutions for sustainable transport. […] We have come a long way in our industrial processes, which are already 96 percent fossil-free. We are very pleased that we together with Scania can break new ground to make the heaviest transports fossil-free," says Hans Djurberg, former Head of Sustainability at SCA. #TRATONGROUP #TRATONElectrifies #FutureOfMobility #Sustainability
