The major mobility event in #CEE region - Kongres Nowej Mobilności | New Mobility Congress wrapped up last week and although I would have never imagined I'll say this after entering the venue for the first time, here it is: 𝗜'𝗺 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 Katowice City - live, work & invest 🫨 To be fair, at first I was ready to pack my bag and head back home, overwhelmed with the ocean of pretty much exclusively #EVs and EV-related products 😬 but oh boy, what a mistake would that be 🫣 This event gathered so many dedicated and driven officials, working tirelessly to prove that CEE cities are catching up the pace in the mobility transition (to more than electric 🔌 😋) and demonstrating great examples of how future of mobility should look like in urban setting 🚀 ✨ I wish we could clone Mayor Agata Wojda from Kielce and let her lead other cities too - someone who preaches what she says and use cycling for 80% of her travels 🚲 and who in a room full of automotive lobby doesn't shy away to boldly state that car's position in the urban setting needs to come to an end 💪 ✨ Deputy Mayor from Łódź - host city - Adam Pustelnik, being a huge enthusiast of e-scooters and seeing a great value if small-wheels adapted infrastructure 🛴 ✨ 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘂𝘀𝘇 𝗪𝗶𝘀́𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗸𝗶, Deputy Mayor from Poznań (leading the share of cycling in modal split in Poland) who's a committed public transport (especially trams) user 🚃 and works closely with an organisation representing cyclists, making sure that their 10 years cycling plan is applicable more than in theory - and it clearly works 👌 ✨ Łódź's Mayor 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗭𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘀𝗸𝗮, pointed out that technology is there to revolutionise the life, but will not do the trick by itself - calling cities to work together, learn from each other, engage, network and broaden competences to embrace the future-proof solutions 🤝 ✨ Kazimierz Karolczak from GZM. Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia pointing out to the essence of reliability of public transport and striving to create a network where one can leave the house on their schedule, because they know something will arrive shortly - not the other way around 🚏 ✨ Deputy of the City Assembly - Jaromir Beranek, sharing how Prague makes itself more liveable and PEOPLE friendly city with actions, not promises 🌱 ✨ Mayor of Gdańsk - 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗸𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝘂𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗰𝘇 and her deputy, Piotr Borawski, turning the vision of city designed for more than cars into practice - and not shying away from associated challenges 💪 Thank you Agata Wiśniewska-Mazur for the invitation to the panel and for making sure than the when CEE cities think "new mobility solutions" - they think of more than electric cars 🙏
