⚓  Meet Our Team Series  ⚓ In this month’s edition, we feature Sabine Hoffmockel from the Contracts & Administration team. You may have seen her face before – she was the lucky colleague chosen as the godmother for the latest addition to our fleet, Panda 004! 🐼 In her daily working life, Sabine is somewhat of a linchpin for Tailwind. From validating new customers so that orders can be placed to compliance and credit assessments to managing contracts (for everything from a coffee machine ☕ to a ship charter) in cooperation with the legal department and our specialist divisions – Sabine is in exchange with basically everyone. She works closely with the sales team and is also part of the organizing team for trade fairs. “I am a genuine team player,” she says, “and enjoy connecting co-workers with one another.” 🤝 Sabine praises the Tailwind spirit, which helped dealing with the greatest challenge so far: chartering a large number of additional ships in the beginning of the Red Sea crisis so that the timetable could be met despite the longer journey time around Africa. 🌍 After all, the goods needed to be delivered onto the shelves just as announced. A feat that was achieved because everyone at Tailwind gave it their all. 💙 “While we are still setting up different processes, all of us have the opportunity to help shape the company,” Sabine points out. Her professional career did not include a position in the maritime sector up until now, but when Sabine read Tailwind’s job advert, she knew instantly she wanted to be part of what she considered a bold venture: a new shipping company, tailored to the needs of customers in the retail business and those who rely on punctual deliveries. 📦 🚀 #teamtailwind #meetOurTeam #shipdifferent

Today, we start with Jan Nicolas Peters 🚢, who, after eight years as a chief mate on the high seas 🌊, swapped the bridge of a container ship for a desk in Tailwind’s Operations Management last year. Together with his three teammates (all of whom also bring their personal practical shipping expertise to the table), the 35-year-old has been using his expertise in our headquarters in Hamburg 💙. As Senior Operations Manager, Jan Nicolas is tasked with the complex and dynamic planning of the entire voyage of our fleet: from stowage planning and fuel bunkering to synchronizing the arrivals of the feeder ships with the port calls of our Panda Express Service 🐼. Are bunkering barges available when we need them? What about the berths in the respective ports?
