𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁… ✒️ Together with 20 electrolyzer manufacturers and component suppliers, Sunfire addresses a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Here’s why:  👩🏽🚀 Europe’s “man on the moon” moment, the European #GreenDeal, needs to deliver on what it promised: Making the green transition an industrial success story for the continent. ✨ Innovation Leadership: Europe is home to many quality and innovation leaders in electrolysis. However, Europe’s share in global manufacturing capacity is dwindling rapidly. ⚡The Challenge: Keeping electrolyzer manufacturing in Europe to drive decarbonization, boost Europe’s strategic autonomy and bring value to the European economy. 🛎️ Strategic Autonomy: Europe cannot afford to replace one dependency (energy imports) with another (imported technology). It is of utmost importance for the EU to implement strong resilience measures. ❗ Policy Action Needed: We welcome the consideration of non-price criteria in the second auction of the #EuropeanHydrogenBank. However, the current discussions are not fit for purpose and measures presented so far fall short. In our submitted proposals we urge the European Commission to safeguard critical parts of the electrolyser production process.  𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱. Your first coffee of the morning is ready, but you still need something to read? ☕ We’ve got you covered! In an interview with energate, our CEO Nils Aldag talks about the powerful combination of our technology platforms, the signed term loan with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the market ramp-up of the green hydrogen economy.  Are you ready for a little sneak peek? 👀 💬 The term loan is a double vote of confidence – for Sunfire as a globally leading and innovative hydrogen company and for the economic region of Eastern Germany. 💬 SOEC-electrolysis is a gamechanger with record-efficiency. We are proud to be the world leader in this promising and innovative technology. 💬 The secured term loan of up to EUR 100 million from the EIB provides increased capacity to boost the development and industrialization of SOEC electrolyzers.  💬 We need the hydrogen turbo! The industry needs long-term planning security, a sufficient financial framework for the transformation, and priority for green hydrogen. You can find the link to the full interview (German) in the comments. #HydrogenIsTheAnswer

𝗪𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄.” As part of the Renewable Hydrogen Coalition, CEOs of leading European companies, including our CEO Nils Aldag, were featured in a video - underlining the important role of green hydrogen for Europe and calling for immediate actions to scale up the industry. 📅 Tomorrow, Member States will meet to appoint the next President of the European Commission, to be confirmed by the newly elected European Parliament. With its European #GreenDeal, the current Commission played a crucial role in supporting the nascent renewable hydrogen industry, bringing much needed regulatory certainty and strong targets for its uptake in hard-to-electrify sectors. However, the journey is far from over. The new European Parliament and the next Commission President should stay the course and focus on delivering the Green Deal as Europe's growth strategy, with international competitiveness of the European industry at its core: 🎯 Set strong EU funding to massively scale up green hydrogen production and bring its cost down. 🎯 Adopt a robust European industrial strategy to build a competitive and resilient value chain in Europe as a matter of strategic industrial autonomy and security.   The future of our industry depends on it. Policymakers, the time to act is now! 👉 Learn more in our Manifesto (link in the comments).   #HydrogenIsTheAnswer #EUElections2024

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆: 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🚀 Yesterday, we had the privilege of attending the "Tag der Industrie", organized by BDI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. under the thought-provoking theme of "Unity in polarized worlds". The discussions and insights reinforced our belief that sustainable economic strength depends on the power of  innovative scale-up companies like Sunfire. The #GreenDeal requires a robust and strategic approach – what we can aptly call an "Industrial Deal". And for the European single market to thrive, Germany needs to get its act together. Investments in future-proofing German's economy are a prerequisite. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Economics Minister Robert Habeck as well as BDI President Siegfried Russwurm agreed on that. Europe and Germany in particular have many strengths that position companies like Sunfire and the entire electrolysis industry for success: 🔧 Expertise in mechanical and plant engineering, electroplating and automation. 🔗 Robust networks linking industrial partners, technology suppliers and customers, coupled with extensive experience in large-scale projects and industry-academia collaborations. 🏆 Differentiation is key. In global markets, German companies are characterized by differentiation strategies. Electrolyzers embody this distinct advantage. "Speed" became the buzzword of the day. Accelerating the ramp-up of the electrolysis industry is crucial. We agree: there is no time to lose! To unlock the enormous potential of electrolysis technology for both the climate and our economy, we need to combine an intelligent industrial policy with a fast and efficient bureaucracy. Only through this synergy can we establish a new leading industry of the 21st century here in Germany, in the heart of Europe. Let's use this momentum! 💪 #TDI24 #GreenDeal #IndustrialStrategy #HydrogenIsTheAnswer Photos: © Christian Kruppa and Jana Legler

Strategy & Corporate Development I Sunfire

Kicking off the week with a short look back...   I had the honor of representing Sunfire at the Handelsblatt Hydrogen Summit. Alongside Kathrin Witsch, Klaus Stratmann, Sabine Nallinger, and Alexander Redenius, we reflected on the insights of the first day and discussed the impact of current hydrogen topics.   Some key topics and takeaways:   🗣️The momentum around low-carbon hydrogen is accelerating. There’s a growing call for pragmatic approaches to build the hydrogen infrastructure, moving beyond the green vs. blue hydrogen debate. 👉BUT: We must not lose momentum now! While the market ramp-up is slower than initially hoped, it's crucial that quotas for green hydrogen remain stringent. Diluting these with other compliance options could undermine essential investment incentives. The continuous phase-out of fossil fuels reduces dependencies and is therefore in the strategic interests of Germany and Europe. 🌍 There was a consensus that Europe and Germany need to drive forward their technology development, production capacity and market expansion. This is essential to maintain their leadership in quality and innovation in the face of global competition. 🔑 Green hydrogen holds an enormous potential and is key to climate protection, energy security, job creation, and economic growth. We must now manage to combine a smart industrial policy with fast and uncomplicated bureaucracy and courage.   #HydrogenIsTheAnswer #HBWasserstoff
