𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝘇𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 Last summer we were delighted to join the pre-seed round of German startup Quazy Foods! 🌿 Co-founded by Arvid Seeberg-Elverfeldt and Berenike (Nixe) Zimmer, their collective expertise unites decades of experience in leadership, biotechnology, and product development. Quazy Foods is on a mission to unleash the potential of microalgae and is committed to develop healthy, sustainable and competitive functional ingredients. We believe in the need for more clean-label and delicious plant-based alternatives to traditional foods and Quazy Food’s ingredients are an enabler for food producers to meet the needs of the conscious consumer. They were able to raise more than €800K for this round, with contributions from ProVeg International, Antler, us and a number of highly engaged business angels. Furthermore, Quazy Foods is also supported by the European Union through different research and innovation support schemes, namely the Horizon 2020 program and the European Regional Development Fund. We are excited to announce our latest investment in Barcelona-based startup POSEIDONA! 🌊 Co-founded by scientists Sònia Hurtado and María Cermeño, Poseidona develops protein ingredients from algal side streams and invasive seaweeds. Their work promises a more eco-friendly alternative to both plant-based and animal-based proteins by reducing water and land use, as well as cutting down on carbon emissions. Poseidona’s mission to protect our planet and its people aligns deeply with our own, making them a perfect fit for our investment portfolio. Together with lead investor Faber, Dozen Investments, ProVeg International, and WA4STEAM, we are proud to have contributed to Poseidona's successful closure of a €1.1M pre-seed round. We are looking forward to supporting them to continue their journey in sustainable food technology, accelerating the development and commercialization of innovative alternative proteins. We're happy to announce our recent investment in Pacifico Biolabs as they emerge from stealth mode! 🐟 Co-founded by Zac Austin and Washington Logroño, Pacifico Biolabs is on a quest to create delicious and sustainable alternative seafood products from mycelium and microalgae. They raised a $3.3M pre-seed round led by FoodLabs and Simon Capital, joined by Exceptional Ventures and us. We are particularly looking forward to supporting Pacifico Biolabs in their upscaling by leveraging our industry connections and expertise.
