This time, we’ll be in Singapore at Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) to exhibit our brain-inspired hardware at the German Pavilion, thanks to an invitation from Silicon Saxony and organized under the umbrella of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). 🌐 We’ll be exhibiting from October 28th to 30th, from 9 AM to 6 PM each day, and are looking forward to engaging conversations and new connections. Recently we participated in the “OCTOPUS” status meeting organized by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung) in Bonn as part of the “EVENTS” project. Alongside other topics, we had the opportunity to engage in discussions on cybersecurity, sustainable technologies, and edge computing with other leading experts and stakeholders. It was a great platform to exchange innovative ideas, share insights, and of course to showcase the progress of our “EVENTS” project. Now that we have returned, we are very excited to continue driving this project forward!

I bring a solid foundation in embedded software development, having previously worked at SEMASU GmbH, where I played a key role in optimizing software performance and integrating cutting-edge systems. I'm passionate about leveraging my technical expertise to solve real-world challenges. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐨 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐍𝐍𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬: I am joining SpiNNcloud Systems as an 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫, where I'll be responsible for developing low-level firmware, compiling infrastructure and application code for tinyML-based architectures. I look forward to contributing to innovative projects and helping drive forward the company's advancements in embedded machine learning.. Our co-founder and co-CEO, Hector A. Gonzalez, has been appointed as a new council member in the CRA-Industry (CRA-I). As a committee of the prestigious Computing Research Association (CRA), the CRA-I council brings together leaders from top computing companies, academia, and government to improve societal outcomes within the field of computing research. Hector represents deep-tech startups like ours in roundtable discussions, workshops, and whitepaper initiatives alongside major names like Microsoft, Intel Corporation, AMD, National Security Agency, Oracle and AT&T, among others, to address significant topics for the future of compute. Last week, our co-CEO and co-founder Hector A. Gonzalez attended the AI Hardware & Edge AI Summit that took place in San Jose, in the heart of the Silicon Valley. This prestigious event brings together all important players in the intersection of AI hardware technologies and edge computing - so it was mandatory for us to attend also this year. We had the opportunity to engage and discuss with important players of our ecosystem about the role that event-based architectures such as ours play in reducing the overall energy footprint of AI. Needless to say that also this year was a big success for us and we will surely return next time too.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗜 𝗮𝗺: I’m Florian Feiler and I have a strong background in Data Science, Machine Learning (ML), and Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs). I am interested in understanding the fundamental principles of intelligent systems, and believe that working on energy-efficient and neuromorphic ML necessarily guides us towards reaching better solutions in this area. If the brain can do it in a constrained environment, why shouldn’t we too? 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜'𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗡𝗡𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱: I work as a Neuromorphic Engineer at SpiNNcloud Systems GmbH. I will focus on leveraging SpiNNaker2’s computational efficiency by implementing customized ML and SNN applications. 𝗠𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿: The team sport I would not enjoy playing still has to be invented.
