We are very grateful to announce the launch of three exciting research projects! Together with great partners, we are researching various ultra-precise solutions for the next generation of highly light-weighted space telescopes, ultra-precise molding tools for polymer microlenses and additively manufactured high-performance mirrors for laser material processing! Project #TYPHOON is researching an end-to-end process chain for the batch production of sophisticated optical components made from the temperature-stable material class of inorganic-organic hybrid polymers, as well as their integration into lenses and cameras. The project addresses the development of high-performance vehicle interior cameras. Project #LightSat addresses the development of design methods and technologies for extremely lightweight telescopes for applications in optical satellite communications. Project #Opticool researches new approaches and technologies for the resource-saving additive manufacturing of high-performance metal optics with efficient cooling. The project addresses cooled mirrors for applications in lithography and laser material processing. We are very much looking forward working together with all our strong partners from the Thuringian photonics ecosystem - Fraunhofer IOF, Fachhochschule Jena, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, mcd - modern camera designs GmbH, GFE - Gesellschaft für Fertigungstechnik und Entwicklung Schmalkalden e.V., optiX fab GmbH, TIRA GmbH, AIM Micro Systems GmbH All projects are funded by the State of #Thuringia and are co-financed by the European Union as part of the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE).

Mit „SPACE FOR“ starten wir unseren ersten eigenen Unternehmenspodcast bei SPACEOPTIX GmbH. Zu zweit und mit verschiedenen Gästen im Interview tauchen wir in das Thema New Space ein. Wir klären was hinter dem Begriff steckt und warum uns Entwicklungen der Branche bereits mehr in unserem Alltag begegnen als wir vielleicht denken. Dabei beleuchten wir auch, wie die neuesten Entwicklungen der Weltraumforschung unsere Gesellschaft, die Wirtschaft und das tägliche Leben beeinflussen. In „SPACE FOR“ sprechen wir außerdem über innovative Technologie-Trends, Unternehmensgründung und über die Zukunft der Raumfahrt und wie es uns gelingen kann bei allem Fortschritt die Erkundung des Weltraums trotzdem nachhaltig zu gestalten. „SPACE FOR“ gibt also Dingen Raum, die uns alle betreffen und bietet so auch einen Mehrwert für alle Nicht-Weltraum-Enthusiasten. 😉 🎙️ Folge 1 ab morgen überall wo es Podcasts gibt!

Almost exactly four years after their first visit, MDR television visited us today to report on the developments at SPACEOPTIX GmbH. Back then, there was just an empty hall and four heads full of ideas - today we manufacture space mirrors in series! What an incredible team effort that we are more than proud of 🚀🛰️

Anna Christmann, Coordinator of the German Federal Government for Aerospace and Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Start-ups, visited SPACEOPTIX to find out about the production of our optical systems for space applications. Together with our Managing Director Matthias Beier, she was also able to take a look at our production facility in Isseroda. The exchange about our technology for new space applications and our experiences during the founding of the company provided plenty to talk about, so that at the end - over snacks and cool drinks - future innovations were discussed. Our team leaders from the areas of research and development Frank Burmeister, COO Marcel Hornaff and the head of the Digital Innovation Hub Photonics (DIHP) Sebastian G.M. Händschke, were also present. Dear Anna Christmann: Thank you very much for your visit and your interest in our company - it was an exciting day with great conversations!

Promoting young talents is an investment in the future. This is why the second Optics Day in Jena focused on trainees from the first to third year of their apprenticeship at the Jena-Göschwitz school center. The event gave future precision opticians the chance to meet potential employers in the field in person. Alongside with ifw Jena | Günter-Köhler-Institut für Fügetechnik und Werkstoffprüfung GmbH, OptoNet e.V., INNOVENT e.V. Technologieentwicklung Jena, ZEISS Group and ASCLEPION, we at SPACEOPTIX GmbH presented our technology for ultra-precise metal optics for space applications. We were impressed to meet so many young people showing interest for the work in our company. Many thanks to Optonet for organizing the event and the fruitful exchange!

With our special technology for the production of metal-optical mirrors and optical systems for space applications, we have been included in the circle of 96 Thuringian hidden champions. What an honor for our young company! The award ceremony took place in advance to the opening training session of the German national soccer team at the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld in Jena. The team is currently staying in its training camp in the Weimar region, just a few kilometers from our production site. Many thanks to LEG Thüringen for organizing this unique event!
