Welcome back to a #monthlySRe update! September was a productive month for us, filled with planning and growth. We held several concept meetings to finalize ideas for our next race car, setting a strong foundation for the upcoming season. These meetings were crucial in defining the direction of our design and technical innovations. Additionally, we officially kicked off our recruiting phase! We're actively looking for new talent to join our team and help drive future successes. To cap off the month, we held an annual member meeting where the newly elected Chiefs were introduced, marking a fresh start with exciting new energy and leadership for the team. Schanzer Racing Season Recap 2023/24: A Year of Milestones and Growth This season has been a transformative one for Schanzer Racing. On October 7th, 2023, we officially welcomed a new leadership team, and by that time, our concepts for the SRe24 were already well underway. The months that followed were dedicated to refining our designs, constructing all components, and preparing for critical events like the Rules Quiz, which shaped our path forward. In February, we began the manufacturing process and deepened our focus on the static disciplines. We had the pleasure of welcoming sponsors to our Schanzer Hautnah event and soon after launched the SRe25 project, setting the stage for the next development cycle. One of our proudest moments came in May with the Rollout of the SRe24, an event attended by nearly 200 guests. From there, we dove into competition preparations, overcoming significant challenges along the way, particularly at FS Austria and Formula Student Czech Republic , where we encountered electrical setbacks. However, our perseverance paid off at Formula Student Germany, where we not only competed in all dynamic manual disciplines but made history by participating in Driverless Acceleration for the first time. Despite time constraints, our team showed incredible resilience and unity, which carried us across the finish line in the Endurance event for the first time in 10 years at FSG. We finished 25th out of 79 teams, ranking in the top 4 among Bavarian teams. As we look forward to the next season, we’re ready to take on new challenges, especially in driverless disciplines. Highlights from this year's Formula Student Germany Schanzer Racing Electric e.V. and TUfast e.V. Racing Team, the two teams sponsored by us, once again gave their all in this year's competitions and showed extraordinary team spirit. Together, we enjoyed the event to the full. Final Impressions of our last two days at Formula Student Germany 🇩🇪 On Saturday morning we first went to the test track to adjust our setup and make the final touches. At midday our two drivers were on the track walk and then the first driver went on his two autocross laps. After a check up in the pit our second driver also went on his two runs. The car drove well and the times were impressive, but unfortunately too much power was drawn in the first two runs and so the two fastest laps were disqualified. In the evening we went to the award ceremony part 1 and at the same time in the pit we were preparing for the next day. On Sunday morning there was the endurance track walk for our two drivers and at midday the car was prepared until it was our turn for endurance. As a very heavy rain shower came over us we had to change to rain tires and then we queued for our endurance run. During the endurance everything went great, the car behaved well, the driver change also went smoothly and both drivers were able to complete all their runs and we completed the endurance. What a huge success for our team to be able to drive through FSG endurance again after years! Some Impressions of day 4 & 5 at Formula Student Germany On Thursday our sticker hunt was on! Early in the morning we queued up for the electrical re-scruti and were then able to get this sticker including the driverless sticker. After that we quickly moved on to the tilt, rain and brake tests, which we passed straight away, and at the same time our business plan took place for which we received good feedback. In the afternoon we went to the EBS test, that was our last and sixth sticker that we were able to get. On Friday the first dynamic disciplines were on. We started with the driverless acceleration in the morning, unfortunately our car stopped just before the finish line but it was still a huge milestone for our team as it was the very first time in the Schanzer history that we took part with driverless! We continued with skidpad, our driver drove his two runs but unfortunately we were not able to use the full potential of our car as we still had minor problems which meant we could not use our control systems. That's why we went to the test track twice, so that we could improve little things and then we successfully did 2 manual accel runs! Some Impressions of the first 3 Days at Formula Student Germany We arrived at FSG late on Sunday evening and just set up our camp. On Monday and Tuesday only 7 people were allowed on the event site. The pit set up was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and in the evening we went to the battery scruti. Meanwhile the rest finished setting up the camp and prepared the statics. On Tuesday 7 of us continued with the mechanical scruti, which we passed quickly, as well as the pre-inspection and the driver egress! In the afternoon everyone was allowed to enter the event area and prepared the car for the electrical scruti. In the evening we then joined the team welcome and were busy securing our camp from the very heavy rain. On Wednesday morning we went to the electrical scruti, where we were able to tick off a lot of points and only had to complete the high voltage part later. After that we did the statics, first the cost report and then the engineering design. When we wanted to go to the electrical re-scruti again in the afternoon, we unfortunately had to go to the battery tent to open up the battery and fix a problem. So we didn't have time to go to the re-scruti again in the evening and were in the queue this morning at 6 a.m.!
