It’s a wrap! As WindEnergy Hamburg came to a close, we are still energised by the positive vibes from this lively event. Bringing together key voices from onshore and offshore wind, it was a great opportunity to explore industry developments and future trends. We were also proud to see some of our very own experts take the stage as conference participants. On top of that, our Recruiting Days took place during the final two days of the fair. Our recruiters, trainees, and colleagues from OPEA and Offshore were out in full force on behalf of RWE. This included career presentations and two insightful talks, offering a glimpse into what it’s like to work for us. 12 turbines along the IJsselmeer coastline: Our Zuidwester Onshore Wind Farm has been up and running since 2017. With an installed capacity of 90 megawatts, it produces enough clean electricity to supply the equivalent of 80,000 Dutch homes annually. 🇳🇱

📽️*Popcorn at the ready*🍿 Last month the Sofia team successfully installed the Offshore Converter Platform out at the Sofia array. At 240km offshore, Sofia is one of our most ambitious and challenging projects yet. 🔧 This follows years of preparation and more than 13 million hours of construction. It is a testament to the collaboration between RWE and its partners GE Vernova, Seatrium and Heerema Marine Contractors. 👷🤝 This is the story of the most significant construction milestone so far for the Sofia project, and the heaviest lift in the history of the offshore wind industry, as told by three of the people who made it happen...🏗️🏅 #SofiaOffshoreWindFarm #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy

RWE's Swetha Sundaram knows a little bit about battery energy storage systems (#BESS). In fact, she wrote the book on it! Last week, while representing RWE at Solar Energy Industries Association's RE conference in Anaheim, she shared a copy of the book, which she co-wrote with Drew Lebowitz and Sean Daly, with Jigar Shah, former #cleanenergy podcaster and current Director of Loan Programs with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). “It was a surreal and proud moment,” she said. Swetha is a director of BESS Project Design at RWE. A couple of years ago, working with her co-authors, she started working on the BESS Book. “It’s a cradle-to-grave overview of all things utility-scale energy storage projects,” she said. Intended primarily for a developer audience, it was published in June. “I’ve always been passionate about sustainability,” Swetha said. “In whatever way possible, I want to contribute to a sustainable future, and this is one way to do that.” The use of battery storage systems has dramatically expanded in recent years, she points out. “The technology is getting bigger and better every year. It is amazing how it has become mainstream so quickly.” Congratulations Swetha on your book!
