Researchers from the University of Sheffield, the University of Cambridge, and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm have published a scientific study about the ecological impact of plastics. By analyzing plastics and alternative materials in 16 areas of application, they found that in 15 of them, plastics can contribute to the savings of greenhouse gases. Creating transparency on the ecological impact of materials is very important. Research is essential to have reliable statements. 50 years in the same company is becoming increasingly rare in today's fast-paced work environment. Franz Lübbers, member of the Röchling Group Executive Board and CEO of Röchling Industrial, can look back on this long period of time within our company. Congratulations on this outstanding feat.

Cedric Trinemeier is one of Germany's athletics elite: he can launch a shot weighing more than seven kilograms almost 20 meters. As Assistant to the CFO at the Röchling Group headquarters in Mannheim, however, he needs other talents for his work. The 26-year-old manages the sometimes difficult balancing act between work, a Master's degree, and competitive sport. This week, he will be competing at the German Championship. To secure that the Röchling Group is fit for the upcoming years, we have invested 134 million euros in our property, plants, and equipment in 2023. This includes investments in future products with a high plastic share, such as battery protection structures for sustainable mobility at Röchling Automotive, the construction of an energy-efficient and climate-friendly industrial hall for the production of composite components at our Röchling Industrial plant in Haren/Germany, and the acquisition of further warehouse space at the Röchling Medical site in Rochester, NY/USA to keep up with rising order volumes. The Röchling Group would be nothing without its employees. We had 11,988 people, including 307 apprentices, working with us at 90 locations in 25 countries as of December 31, 2023 – an increase of around 2.1 percent in the space of a year. The Röchling Group increased its total sales in 2023 by 4.6 percent – largely because of growth in the American and Asian market. Sales in Germany and the rest of Europe also showed an increase, albeit smaller. Our best-selling division was Röchling Automotive, followed by Röchling Industrial which nearly reached its sales volume of the record-setting previous year. 🏃🏼♀️ Off to the track Our team in Mannheim is training for the BAUHAUS Deutschland company run on June 20. After learning more about training and running theory as well as discussing our motivation a couple of days ago, it was now time for the practical part. In perfect running conditions, our colleagues completed a few lanes in a nearby park. The session was guided by running coach Joachim Janke.

🚀 A milestone for Röchling in Thailand Five years ago, our Röchling Automotive plant in Chonburi/Thailand went into production. It was the beginning of a Röchling success story: In comparison to its inaugural year in 2019, sales have doubled, and so has the number of employees – an achievement, that our colleagues can be more than proud of. The employees hosted a festivity according to regional customs to celebrate the anniversary, in which our Spokesman of the Executive Board and CEO of our Automotive division, Raphael A. Wolfram, also took part. Congratulations to Röchling Automotive Chonburi. We are looking forward to many more years to come.
