📊 #polloftheweek Tracking and reducing carbon emissions can be a complex process, especially with varying scopes of accountability. Our poll question to you this week is: Which of the following emission scopes does your company find most challenging to address? 🔵 Options: 1 - Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources. 🔵 Option 2 - Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling. 🔵 Option 3 - Scope 3: All other indirect emissions in the value chain. 🔵 Option 4 - We’re working on addressing all three scopes equally 🌱 As more businesses commit to reducing their carbon footprint, each scope presents its own set of challenges. For many, Scope 3—emissions within the value chain—can be the hardest to measure and reduce. What’s your biggest hurdle in reducing emissions? Let us know in the poll below, and share your thoughts on how you're addressing these challenges 👇 #Sustainability #NetZero #Scope1 #Scope2 #Scope3 #CarbonEmissions #ClimateAction #CorporateSustainability #CSRD #CircularEconomy

📢 Are UK supermarkets over-reliant on plastic? 🇬🇧 👀 New research from the Material Change Index, commissioned by DS Smith, reveals that 51% of food and drink items in UK supermarkets are wrapped in “unnecessary” plastic—plastic that could be safely replaced by sustainable alternatives. 🔍 The study analysed 1,500 grocery items and found that most plastic waste stems from processed foods, with staggering percentages: - 90% of ready-meal and meal kits - 89% of bread, rice, and cereals - 83% of dairy products - 80% of meat and fish 🙅♀️ In total, unnecessary plastic packaging adds up to 29.8 billion avoidable items annually in the UK alone. ♻️ While 98% of surveyed European food retailers are committed to reducing plastic, the UK still ranks as the most reliant on plastic packaging, with 70% of food and drink items containing plastic compared to other countries. #Sustainability #DSSmith #MaterialChangeIndex #PlasticWaste #RetailEconomics #Packaging #Circularity #CircularEconomy #Statistics #GreenNews #Europe #UK #EU

Why are Baby Boomers recycling more than Gen Z? 🤔 📚 A recent study in the UK has revealed that Baby Boomers are leading the way when it comes to recycling, especially with paper and cardboard. While 54% of Baby Boomers reported recycling regularly, only 19% of Gen Z do the same. 💡 Interestingly, the study also found that younger generations often face confusion about what can and can’t be recycled and struggle with accessibility to recycling bins in public spaces. Meanwhile, Boomers are more familiar with recycling guidelines but still admit to convenience-related lapses. This raises important questions: 👉 Why do you think Gen Z struggles more to recycle despite growing up with more environmental awareness? 👉 How can we bridge the gap and make recycling easier and more appealing for younger generations? #Recycling #Sustainability #GenZ #BabyBoomers #CircularEconomy #WasteReduction #UK #EnvironmentalResponsibility #Statistics #Survey
