The Irish DP Energy Group has been granted approval for a 325MW solar project in Alberta, Canada. The project will be North Americas largest urban solar project. DP Energy has been operating for over 30 years and since has established a portfolio of over 1.5GW of installed capacity across Ireland, UK, Australia and Canada. The renewable energy giant EDP Renewables North America together with Salt River Project has announced the completion of a 200 MW solar project. The capacity of the solar park near Coolidge, Arizona will be utilized by Meta. EDPR NA is owned by EDP Renewables, which is one of the largest renewable energy companies worldwide and develops, constructs, owns, and operates wind farms and solar parks. The London-based renewable energy investor NextEnergy Capital has announced the acquisition of a 50MW portfolio of solar farms in Poland from the Polish company Grenevia. This investment follows a series of recent acquisitions from NextEnergy, including a 100MW solar project in the USA among others. The Swedish renewable energy company OX2 has sold a 25 MW solar project located in Cáceres. OX2 develops and sells wind and solar farms and is most active in European markets. The project now sold to the Greening Group consists of five solar farms and is the second sale to the Spanish renewable energy company.   OX2 is led by Paul Stormoen and Johan Rydmark. We wrote an article about the developers of the 3 largest offshore wind projects in Scandinavia. 1) The Mareld Wind Park in Sweden is being developed by a collaboration between Ireland-based Mainstream Renewable Power (led by Mary Quaney, Jutta Dissen and Paul Corrigan) and Sweden-based Hexicon (managed by Marcus Thor, Max Ek, and Guilherme Nunes). The project will have a capacity of up to up to 2.5GW. 2) The 1.3GW Korsnäs Offshore Farm in Finland will be developed by Sweden-based Vattenfall (led by Anna Borg and Kerstin Ahlfont) and Finland-based Metsähallitus. 3) The 1GW Västvind Project in Sweden will be developed by Sweden-based Eolus Vind AB. The company, managed by Per Witalisson, Magnus Axelsson, and Catharina Persson, plans for construction to begin in 2027. We recently wrote an article about the key developers in the United States that are responsible for the country’s largest wind projects:  1) Virginia-based Dominion Energy is developing the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project, set to produce 2,640 MW of renewable energy off the coast of Cape Henry, Virginia. The company, led by Robert Blue, Carlos M. Brown, Diane Leopold, Steven Ridge, and Regina Elbert, expects the project to be completed by 2026. 2) In a partnership between Shell New Energies and EDF Renouvelables (led by Béatrice Buffon, Bruno Fyot, Vincent GAYRARD, and Elsa Gonse), the Atlantic Shores project off the coast of New Jersey will generate 1,510 MW of renewable energy. It is set to become operational by 2028. 3) Norway-based Equinor is leading the charge with Beacon Wind 1, a 1,230 MW clean energy project off the coast of Massachusetts and New York. We recently wrote an article about the key developers in France that are responsible for the country’s largest wind projects:  1) The 1GW Centre Manche 1 Project is being developed by EMMN, a joint venture by EDF Renouvelables and Maple Power. EDF Renewables is led by Béatrice Buffon, Bruno Fyot, Vincent GAYRARD, and Elsa Gonse, while Maple Power is managed by Michael Van Der Heijden, Toby Edmonds and George Walley. This offshore wind farm off the coast of Normandy is set to be France’s largest. Construction is expected to begin in 2026/2027, with operations targeted for 2031. 2) The Fécamp Offshore Wind Farm was developed by Eolien Maritime France (EMF), a partnership between EDF Renouvelables, Enbridge, CPP Investments | Investissements RPC, and Skyborn Renewables. Located off the Normandy coast, it serves 770,000 residents. 3) Operated by EDF Renewables, the Saint-Nazaire Offshore Wind Farm off the Guérande peninsula in Loire-Atlantique is operational since September 2022, covering 20% of the region's electricity consumption. We published an article recently about the developers of the 3 largest wind projects in Germany. 1) Swedish utility provider Vattenfall (led by Anna Borg and Kerstin Ahlfont) is behind the 980MW Nordlicht project, with Nordlicht I set to power one million German homes by 2027. Construction begins in 2026, aiming for full operation by 2028. 2) Germany-based EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG is developing the 960MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm, planned to be operational by the end of 2025. EnBW (managed by Georg Nikolaus Stamatelopoulos, Thomas Kusterer, Dirk Güsewell and Colette Rückert-Hennen) also leads the Hohe See and Albatros wind farms, the largest operational wind projects in Germany. 3) Danish multinational Ørsted is bringing the 900MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm to life, aiming to provide clean electricity to around 920,000 German households by 2025. The company, managed by Mads Nipper, Rasmus Errboe, Trond Westlie, Henriette Fenger Ellekrog and Patrick Harnett, plans for construction to start in 2024. Germany-based Commerz Real AG, led by Henning Koch, has acquired a 46MW wind farm in Finland from Energiequelle GmbH (managed by Michael Raschemann). As part of its Klimavest fund, Commerz Real has added the Lumivaara wind farm to its portfolio, which now boasts several facilities with a combined capacity of 170MW. Situated in the municipality of Hyrynsalmi, within the Kainuu region, the Lumivaara wind farm is located approximately 560 kilometres north of Helsinki. Nordex Group (led by Jose Luis Blanco) is currently responsible for the ongoing full maintenance of the wind farm, while Energiequelle oversees its technical and commercial management.
