This week, some of our team had the opportunity to connect with the Display community in Jeju, Korea, covering everything from OLEDs and LCDs to MicroLEDs, automotive displays, freeform displays, sensors, wearable electronics, and many more. Our focus was on exploring the potential of inkjet technology in the industry, particularly understanding the value of jetting high viscosity materials. CTO, Ramon Borrell presented as part of the Advanced Manufacturing group, joined by inkjet experts and collaborators— Tri Tuladhar and Yoshinori Domae. Great roadshow last week in #Berlin! Founders from 13 amazing tech #startups are working hard throughout the holiday season, exploring opportunities in #China: a 1.3-billion-user new market 🚀 💡Some lessons learnt: 1. Most #VCs only act if there's a clear China landing scenario and favor #Chinese co-founder or core team member. 2. Public agencies, lenders & grant managers much prefer #industrial and #robitics projects with #hardware product and foreseeable fixed asset investment needs. 3. It is extremely hard for pure #software projects e.g. SaaS, Apps, AI Tools or online platforms to enter and compete in the local digital ecosystem. 4. #PhD titles of your team members would greatly boost your creditability and open extra doors to local funding programs. 5. Session Title: Transforming Industrial Manufacturing: Harnessing the Potential of Ultra High Viscosity Jetting for Functional Printing Abstract: Ramon Borrell explored the groundbreaking potential of jetting ultra high viscosity fluids to transform industrial manufacturing. He highlighted the NovoJet inkjet technology, which combines scalability, flexibility, and digital printing capabilities with the superior properties of functional materials. In 2021, Borrell et al. announced the ability to jet ultra high viscosity fluids via drop-on-demand inkjet, surpassing previous standards. Initially, only small printheads with limited commercial capabilities were developed and tested. Over the past three years, significant advancements have been made in optimizing the underlying actuator technology, enabling the jetting of fluids with viscosities up to 250 mPa·s for Newtonian fluids. NovoJet technology is set to revolutionize applications in fuel cells, printed electronics, MEMS, semiconductors, and more.
