Progress Check in Valencia! Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Seat and Cupra, visited our PowerCo Spain facilities to take a look at the project’s progress. 🏗️   During his visit, Wayne and the PowerCo Spain board met with Mr. Carlos Mazón, President of the Generalitat Valenciana, and Mr. Darío Moreno, Mayor of Sagunto. Together with our leadership team, Wayne emphasized the importance of sustainable mobility, expressing a strong belief that the future belongs to electric vehicles. 🔋🚘   At PowerCo, we are collaborating closely with the VW Group’s brands to democratize the use of electric models, bringing EVs to more people. The Cupra Raval and Volkswagen ID.2 will be the first electric models from the Volkswagen Group powered by the Unified Cells, ensuring longer range and faster charging.   It’s a shared mission—we aim to electrify Valencia, Spain, and all of Europe!   #batterytechnology #gigafactory

🇩🇪 Salzgitter meets St. Thomas! 🇨🇦 It’s great to see how PowerCo’s endeavour brings people, communities and even cities together. Last week, Salzgitter Mayor Frank Klingebiel and his team made the intercontinental trip to Canada to visit the city of St. Thomas, home of our North American gigafactory. 🔋🏭 PowerCo’s Mustafa Bulut and Robert Weggässer briefed the mayor’s delegation on the progress of the plant and highlighted key projects with local partners. But first and foremost was the exchange with the people of St. Thomas and with Mayor Joe Preston. As major battery locations of the future, both cities share common goals and challenges and can learn from each other how to handle such a project. The good spirit of this collaboration – as well as some lederhosen and dirndls – was on full display during St. Thomas’ well-established Downtown Oktoberfest. 🥨 There was live music, a marketplace with food and drinks, free train rides, cultural demonstrations, and activities for all ages. Sometimes, the hardest work can't be seen once the project is finished. This is true for batteries – and for our construction site in Canada! 🍁⚡️ At present, the roads and infrastructure for our gigafactory are well underway. This includes the base foundations for incoming transmission lines, a rail spur and bridge, a booster pumpstation expansion and much more.
