    𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗔𝗿𝗲 (𝗖)𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀?🌱 In a recently published interview with Food Ingredients First, our product management team lead, Dr.-Ing. Pia Meinlschmidt, highlights the growing role of #clean  labels in plant-based foods. She said: “For Planteneers, clean labels will be a prominent feature in the company’s upcoming innovations, especially products that are free from methylcellulose. In addition, plant-based foods with enhanced nutritional and health benefits will be among the most important innovations.” As consumers increasingly prioritize transparency and sustainability, our R&D is focused on developing clean label solutions. Hybrid products incorporating mycoproteins or ingredients derived from precision fermentation will also play a bigger role in the future.     𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗨𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲? Let's dive into some numbers. From 2019 to 2023 the number of product launches more than tripled. Looking at the past 3 years, we see a CAGR of 60%. But it’s not just the past growth of plant-based fish products that is impressive. For the coming years Innova Market Insights projects a CAGR of 28.5% through to 2029. We see a lot of potential in plant-based alternatives to #fish  and #seafood substitutes, since our R&D has many ideas for how our functional systems can give fish alternatives a similar #texture  and #taste  to the original products.     𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝘆𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘂𝗺-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲? That question was on many of our colleagues' minds when Dr.-Ing. Pia Meinlschmidt talked about mycelium for the first time. Everyone was curious whether it tastes similar to other alternative proteins or if it can cover product properties that other proteins are missing. The good news: There is a significant difference, and mycelium is a nutritional powerhouse. It has a much better nutritional value compared to other proteins, as it contains all 9 essential amino acids (= complete protein). It contributes to muscle growth, has both cholesterol- and insulin-regulating effects and is high in fiber. That made everyone even more curious. Therefore, we recently held a tasting session where our R&D team presented our applications with mycelium-based products and our #filldMeat range and demonstrated the perfect fit of our functional systems and Mycoprotein. We got to taste plant-based nuggets, meatballs, chicken breast, burger patties, Schnitzel and deli meat. The feedback in terms of texture and taste was so good that many colleagues wanted to show these innovations to customers immediately.
