How do Scope 3 emissions impact your company's overall carbon footprint? Scope 3 emissions represent most of a company's carbon footprint, accounting for up to 90% of total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. They cover the entire value chain and provide a comprehensive view of a business's environmental impact. Addressing Scope 3 emissions across the value chain is becoming standard practice, but achieving this requires robust supply chain engagement. The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) has enabled companies to measure and influence their suppliers' climate commitments. However, challenges remain. While transparency has increased, more action is needed to ensure environmental initiatives reach all levels of the supply chain. Companies must encourage their suppliers to lead in climate action. Only a couple of days remain before the official enforcement of the CSDDD. The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) was officially published in the Official Journal of the European Union on July 5, marking a significant milestone for corporate sustainability. This means the CSDDD will legally enter into force on July 25, 2024. EU Member States will have until July 26, 2026, to transpose the CSDDD into their national laws, and in-scope companies will be required to comply between July 2027 and July 2029. The CSDDD imposes comprehensive obligations on companies within its scope to identify, assess, prevent, mitigate, address, and remedy impacts on people and the planet resulting from their operations and value chains. These impacts range from child labour and slavery to pollution, emissions, deforestation, and ecosystem damage. The CSDDD mandates minimum harmonisation, meaning the Member States must maintain the protection levels when transposing it into national law. This directive will also influence existing national laws, such as Germany’s Act on Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains (LkSG) and France’s Duty of Vigilance Law, ensuring a cohesive and robust framework for sustainability across the EU. Discover how the CSDDD affects your company and prepare for compliance with our comprehensive cheat sheet: https://lnkd.in/dWszwuCm #Sustainability #CSDDD #CorporateResponsibility #EURegulations #Reporting #PlanA

Is your fashion business ready for the upcoming wave of ESG regulations? With the fashion industry at a tipping point, the demand for sustainable and ethical practices is more urgent than ever. As climate change accelerates and consumer awareness grows, the sector faces mounting pressure to adopt sustainable and socially responsible standards. Notable regulations include: 1. EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles: This strategy addresses the entire lifecycle of textile products, aiming to make them more durable, repairable, reusable, and recyclable. 2. Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD): This directive ensures that environmental and human rights due diligence are enacted across businesses' supply chains. 3. Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD): Mandates that businesses of all sizes report their environmental and social activities, which are then subject to audits. 4. Eco-Design for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR): Maximises sustainability through resource use, repairs, and circularity, including a 'Product Passport' for informed consumer decisions. 5. The Garment Worker Protection Act ensures fair pay and working conditions within the fashion industry, eliminating exploitative practices like by-the-piece payment. Staying informed about these regulations is crucial for any fashion business committed to responsible practices and long-term success. The comments below provide more information about ESG regulations in fashion. Book a demo with Plan A today to kickstart your sustainability journey: https://lnkd.in/eByqnUx
