🌟 Sneak Peek Friday: Celebrating Our First Pupil Internship! 🎉👩🎨👨🎨 In this week's episode of Sneak Peek Fridays, we are thrilled to share an exciting milestone for Persival. We just wrapped up our very first pupil internship, and it was a fantastic experience for both our team and our talented intern, Morten! Morten, a very talented and interested pupil, joined us to explore the daily work of a 3D artist in our dynamic startup environment. Over the course of his internship, he gained hands-on experience in creating and optimizing 3D assets, contributing to our cutting-edge sensor model development projects. His enthusiasm and creativity brought a fresh perspective to our team, and we were delighted to see him excel in his tasks. The internship went so well that we are now looking to employ Morten as a vacation jobber. At Persival, we believe in nurturing young talent and providing opportunities for them to grow. Our startup is a welcoming place for internships, where we aim to inspire and guide the next generation of innovators. Below is a sneak peek image of Morten hard at work during his internship, showcasing his journey and the collaborative spirit of our team. We are proud to support young people in their career paths and look forward to more successful internships in the future. Stay tuned for more updates and join us in celebrating Morten's achievements! #SneakPeekFridays #Internship #3DArtist #StartupLife #PersivalGmbH #YoungTalent #CareerInspiration #Perception #Sensor #Simulation and ‘Model #Validation

🌟 Sneak Peek Friday: Development in SMDL and Simspector! 🚗🌲 In this week's episode of Sneak Peek Fridays, we're excited to highlight a significant advancement in our sensor model development library (SMDL) and our data analysis and visualization tool, Simspector. Both can now work with alpha textures and normal maps! This enhancement is a game-changer for our simulation capabilities, providing both better performance and higher fidelity. Three months ago, we shared a video analyzing the 3D environment and moving objects for geometry (meshes/primitives) and material assignments. Now, with the integration of alpha textures and normal maps, we've taken a huge step forward in simulation detail. This improvement allows us to generate the lidar point cloud more accurately in complex environments, such as vegetation alongside the road. Watch the video below to see the impressive effects of these enhancements in action. The video showcases the exact same exemplary scene we created in-house, depicting a German highway, but now with significantly more detail on the vegetation. You'll notice a marked difference in the realism and precision of our simulations, showcasing the superior performance and fidelity we have achieved. We are thrilled with this development and look forward to continuing to push the boundaries of sensor simulation technology. Stay tuned for more updates and innovations from Persival!   #SneakPeekFridays #SMDL #Simspector #AlphaTextures #NormalMaps #Perception #Sensor #Simulation and #Model #Validation

🌟 Sneak Peek Friday: Research Focus Episode! 📚🔬 In this week's episode of Sneak Peek Fridays, we are excited to highlight a significant milestone in our research efforts. Our co-founder, Dr. Philipp Rosenberger, has contributed to a newly published journal paper titled "Introducing the Double Validation Metric for Radar Sensor Models". This publication is a testament to our ongoing commitment to advancing sensor model validation techniques. The publication is a collaborative effort with our esteemed research partners from Institute of Automotive Engineering, Technische Universität Darmstadt (FZD) and we are proud to announce that it is available as Open Access. This means that everyone can benefit from the insights and findings presented in this groundbreaking work. The paper tackles our core topic at Persival: Credible Perception Sensor Simulation. While simulation models for perception sensors such as lidar, radar, and cameras exist at varying levels of detail, validating their accuracy remains an ongoing research challenge. The authors, led by Lukas Elster, explain the Double Validation Metric (DVM), previously applied to lidar sensor models, and extend it to radar sensor models through the DVM Map introduced here. This new method, demonstrated on real and simulated radar sensor data, provides detailed and accurate validation, reveals previously undetected simulation errors, and offers a more intuitive visualization of results using satellite imagery. The paper is published in Automotive and Engine Technology, a fully open access journal covering all aspects of automotive and commercial vehicle engineering and engine development. The journal provides in-depth articles by expert authors from academia and industry, and serves as an essential source of information for a global audience of automotive engineers.
